Head of European Broker Relations, Spain

Job Summary

Beazley is currently seeking a Broker Relations Manager for the Spanish market. This role will manage Beazley’s key relationships with partner brokers across Spain. In addition to having primary ownership of Spain, this role will also provide Broker Relations support to other European countries. By collaborating with our Focus Group Leaders, Head of Office (HOO) in Spain and the European Management Committee, this individual will create and execute on business development and distribution plans.

Work with internal and external stakeholders toacquire and share detailed knowledge of Beazley’s proposition in Spain. Partner with Focus Group Leaders to generate a flow of quality business into the relevant underwriting teams. Continuously enhance Beazley’s reputation as an underwriting organisation delivering high levels of expertise and a quality service.

Key Responsibilities

Broker Relations:

  • Acquire and maintain a full understanding of Beazley’s overall strategy, underwriting appetite and proposition
  • Work with the Focus Groups to develop and execute a regional business development and distribution plan
  • Map and segment brokers in Spain - identify brokers that present the strongest business development potential for Beazley
  • Develop, own and track broker account plans for partner and growth brokers in Spain
  • Build a pipeline of significant opportunities and work with underwriters to maximise Beazley’s opportunity to win
  • Gain insights from broker productivity metrics; agree appropriate action plans with underwriters, then manage with brokers
  • In conjunction with marketing create schedule of events for broker education and entertainment
  • Develop meaningful relationships with the target brokers (c-suite and trading team level) becoming their ‘go to’ person at Beazley for relationship matters or if they need assistance
  • Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of how our e-trading systems operate to demonstrate to brokers, and provide feedback for continuous improvement
  • Support and serve as the “eyes and ears” of underwriting teams in the marketplace and provide market intelligence on pricing, product and market trends.
  • Use the CRM system effectively and support continuous improvement in sales, marketing and relationship management activity.

Personal Specifications

We’re looking for someone who has successfully partnered with underwriting leaders on product growth initiatives, cross- selling opportunities and differentiation in the market place. An understanding of the insurance market and our distribution channels is critical to success. A passion for relationship building is a must. Great communication skills across all levels of seniority and the ability to represent the Broker Relations team internally and externally to our clients will be important.

Skills And Abilities

  • Effective relationship management skills with customer focussed approach

Knowledge And Experience

  • General commercial and financial knowledge
  • Extensive experience in insurance industry, with either an insurance company or broker
  • Experience in selling / business development, ideally with a track record of developing profitable property/casualty business
  • Client service experience
