About The Role

Internal Role title: Head of Finance CDMO

Location: Can be based in one of the following locations: Barcelona, Spain, Basel, Switzerland, Schaftenau, Austria or Ljubljana, Slovenia. Hybrid

About the Role:

This is an opportunity to be the financial leadership and act as the business partner for the Head of the Contract Manufacturing and Development Organization (CDMO) who will handle a business unit with revenues today of $1.300m annually and 1500 individuals in a network of global sites with a portfolio produced by more than 20 sites.

You will lead, grow and develop the Finance team in four sites and above site supporting multiple CDMO units which includes sites, business development teams and key account managers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and run all business planning and analysis (BPA) activities for the CDMO unit by fully integrating planning processes and growing the business impact of the BPA teams.
  • Preparation of long-term business strategies and operational plans as well as driving execution of the agreed strategies.
  • Lead all financial planning processes for CDMO (Budget, Rolling Forecasts, Strategic Plan Financials, Latest Estimate, Latest Outlook, updates to the Head NOPS, spot landings, monthly business reviews and proactive monitoring of Risks and Opportunities(R&Os)).
  • Provide financial support for new contracts and long-term collaborations with existing and new CDMO customers including the alignment with Financial Reporting and Accounting and funds flow.
  • Participate in negotiations with CMO customers owning topics like funding of needed investments, deal structure, risk mitigation and deal value maximization.
  • Drive business performance and growth through management of Cost per Unit, Cash Flow, Cash Flow Return on Investment (CFROI), Return On Net Assets (RONA) and Economic Value Added (EVA).
  • Support the CDMO leadership team with financial analysis (including R&Os analysis), cost analysis, support in preparing cases for new deals.
  • Supervise the forecast and analysis of sales trends, functional expenses and other income and expense items, establish financial and business targets, develop budgets, and monitor/report on business performance.
  • Direct and review specific value-added analyses, e.g., resource allocation, profitability analyses, benchmarking, restructurings and make resource allocation proposals.
  • Provide support in the preparation of comprehensive business cases for CARs and new deals with CDMO.
  • Achievement of various financial targets (sales, costs, cost per unit, core operating income, FCF, as well as ROI/NPV measures.
  • The Head Finance CDMO will be part of the Operations Finance Leadership Team (FLT).

Role Requirements

Essential requirements:

  • MBA or equivalent qualification.
  • Extensive years of Finance and leadership experience.
  • Business partner experience supporting commercial and technical units.
  • Background in Pharma and B2B business covering different areas of finance (decision making support, contracting, financial planning, funds flow and accounting).
  • Business partnering experience in a global role dealing with multiple stakeholders in- and outside of finance.
  • Financial and management reporting including production processes.
  • Business Planning & Analysis and proven background in funds flow and IFRS.
  • Effective communication of sophisticated models and scenarios.
  • Financial decision making and trade-off analysis / risks and ops management.
