Due to succession planning and good governance SDCCC are recruiting for one Board Director. The Board of South Dublin County Childcare Committee (SDCCC) is seeking an individual to join our Board.


SDCCC are looking for an individual with a background in finance management. If you have experience in this area and want to play a key role in helping us, we’re keen to hear from you. Our Services South Dublin County Childcare Committee is one of thirty-three City and County Childcare Committees (CCCs) around the country that are funded by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth (DCEDIY) SDCCC offers information and support to early years providers, parents, childminders, and employers to improve accessibility, affordability and quality of early years services in South Dublin County. SDCCC provides advice and information to support parents to find an early years’ service, to ask the right questions when they are choosing a service and how to reduce the costs. SDCCC offers a range of supports to early years providers including information and advice on the National Practice Guidelines(Siolta & Aistear), accredited and non-accredited training opportunities, compliance with Preschool Regulations and funding requirements and most importantly on service development and improvement. Our Mission The mission of South Dublin County Childcare Committee Ltd is to strategically co-ordinate the sustainable development of an accessible and holistic quality childcare infrastructure in South Dublin County.

Development: To develop comprehensive childcare supports, infrastructure and services where the holistic well-being of children and families are fundamental. Investment: To consolidate investment in the sector to support the continuing development of a stable, integrated and sustainable infrastructure. Quality: To enhance quality early childhood education and care and school-age provision. The Board aims to have a diverse membership and is open to and includes membership from all its stakeholder groups. The Role of the SDCCC Board The Board will:


Ensure compliance with the objects, purposes, and values of the organisation and with its governing document Ensure and maintain financial oversight by ensuring solvency, financial strength and good performance of the


Organisation Ensure the organisation complies with all relevant laws, regulations and requirements of its regulators and its memorandum of association Ensure that the organisation’s vision, mission and values and activities remain true to its objects or company aims. Provide strategic direction and continuity to the SDCCC towards delivering its objectives and programmes Influence government, policy makers and service providers Set or approve policies, plans and budgets to achieve those objectives, and monitor performance against them Employ and manage staff and resources to implement approved programmes of work


Ensure HR policies in relation to SDCCC staff are in place and that standards and responsibilities pertaining to being an employer are met Set and maintain a framework of delegation and internal control Agree or ratify all policies and decisions on matters which might create significant risk to the organisation, financial or otherwise Act reasonably in the interests of the organisation and of its present and future beneficiaries. Assume equal responsibility in law for the Board’s actions and decisions, and have equal status as directors Where a Board member of SDCCC may be prohibited by their employing organisation to act as company directors, such a Board member is encouraged to bring their expertise and reflections to Board discussions but will refrain from making any decisions Elect a Chairperson of the Board in accordance with the procedures specified in the organisation’s governing documents. Obtain advice from professional advisors or others on all matters where there may be material risk to the organisation, or where the directors may be in breach of their duties. Take ultimate responsibility for dealing with and managing conflicts that may arise within the organisation. This includes conflicts arising between directors, staff, the Co-ordinator, members, or service users or providers. Directors and Board Members Role and Responsibilities terms-of-reference in SDCCC, as a minimum, include obligations to: Board member's Know and support the mission of the organisation Uphold the values and objectives of the organisation Give adequate time and energy to the duties of the Board Prepare for meetings in advance Maintain confidentiality Offer informed and impartial guidance Participate in committees and special events Support the Co-ordinator Promote the organisation in the community Comply with the principles of this Code Fulfil fiduciary duties


Act on behalf of the Board, or on the business of the organisation, only with proper authority from the Board. Act with integrity and avoid or declare personal conflicts of interest. Ensure no personal benefit is accrued Directors: To fulfil legal duties under company law. Overview of Key Commitments of the Role: Six board of management meetings per year. These meetings are usually held in the mornings from 9.30am to 11.30am, although times and duration may vary according to emerging needs.


At present, these meetings are held through a mix of online and face to face meeting, normally held in our offices or an alternative location in Clondalkin.
