Social Care Worker, Bridge
Ballina, Co. Mayo
- Contract (1 year) 30 hours per week

The role will involve supporting young individuals with autism and associated needs. You will be responsible for supporting these young people to:
- Identify and implement areas of interest
- Enhance independence skills
- Enhance communication skills
- Enhance coping skills
- Support development in independence skills, social inclusion, social capacity
- Explore education and employment opportunities
- Develop a full and meaningful life with the person you are supporting
Your base will be Bridge, Ballina and you will report to the Social Care Leader of the service.
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Ensuring a person-centred approach to meet the needs of each participant individually
- Developing an Individual Plan for each participant
- Empowering each participant to achieve their identified goals in an integrated and inclusive setting
- Promote inclusion, equality and community participation.
- Developing relationships with participants, families, advocates and the wider community
- Provide individual mentoring to participants
- Incorporating autism informed strategies into everyday life
Candidate Requirements
- A balanced approach to risk
- An ability to develop meaningful community links
- To be a good communicator with good observational and organisational skills
- Drive, enthusiasm, and passion for delivering person centred solutions
- Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of New Directions Standards and Person-Centred Planning
- Competent IT skills
Other duties involved (Duties include but are not limited to the following)
- Contribute to and participate in the local service planning process and the creative development and ongoing changing needs of the service.
- Ensure a safe place of work, incorporating Western Care Association’s Dignity at Work Policy and Health & Safety requirement.
- To promote safety in all environments, in line with the Association’s practices.
- Use positive approaches to support people in line with Organisational practice.
Qualification Details
An appropriate 3rd level qualification in Social Care, or equivalent (minimum level 7)
- please note your qualification must be eligible for CORU registration once this process commences
Other Requirements
- Full driver’s license is essential
- All applicants will be subject to Irish Garda Vetting & Reference checks
- All applicants from Countries outside the E.U. will be required to provide relevant work authorization to take up employment in Republic of Ireland. This must be submitted along with Application
- All applicants will be required to access Overseas Police Clearance if they have lived outside of the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland more than 6 months since the age of 18 years

Salary Scale
Social Care Worker Pay Scale (Scale Range €31,293 - €47,087 per annum)
- this is based on full time working hours i.e. 39 per week
