Relief Project Worker, Dublin Services Full-time Job

Location: Various Locations in Dublin

Reporting to: Project Leader/Relief Coordinator

Primary Purpose: Relief Project and Contact Workers have the flexibility to work in different services throughout Dublin on an "on-call" basis. You can pick and choose which shifts you are available to work. You may be called for a shift at any stage, and are under no obligation to accept the shift. You are paid per hours worked and 8% holiday pay.

Key Responsibilities

  • To work within the framework of the overall objective of Focus Ireland the values of the agency.
  • To work on a relief basis as part of a team within the framework of the policies and procedures in place for the project or as directed by the project leader, assistant project leader or section manager.
  • To work in close liaison and co-operation with other teams within Focus Ireland and other Statutory and Voluntary Agencies as deemed appropriate.
  • To record and maintain records on a relief basis in relation to the project and individual clients in accordance with statutory requirements and health and safety legislation.
  • To attend and participate in team, review and agency meetings as required.
  • To assist in the implementation of the settlement policies and strategies of Focus Ireland.
  • To work in close liaison with and co-operate with other Focus Ireland projects.
  • To undertake such other duties as might be reasonably assigned to you from time to time in consultation with the Project Leader
  • To observer all Health, Safety and Welfare at Work regulations and notify management of any risks or concerns you may have in relation to same

Essential Requirements

  • A relevant Third Level qualification at degree level i.e. social care, psychology, sociology
  • Proven direct work experience in relief/part-time work in a social care setting
  • Experience of supporting marginalised clients/groups
  • A working knowledge and insight into the social issues (e.g. substance abuse) that affect people who have or are experiencing homelessness.
  • Ability to manage and support clients in crisis who present with challenging behaviours based on the values and principles of best practice in Focus Ireland

Skills And Competencies

  • Working knowledge and understanding of Child Protection
  • Experience of key working, assessments and care planning
  • Excellent report writing and IT skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Reliability and flexibility

Desirable Requirements

  • A working knowledge and understanding of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention model
