Portfolio Agile Lead - Ops & Baggage
The Portfolio Agile Lead is a servant-leader for the Scrum Masters across the whole Portfolio. They should assist other Scrum Masters in the remediation of impediments, and help to ensure that all of the Teams are aware of the Agile best practices recommended by the Sita Business Agility Practice.
They will also be Scrum Master or Agile Lead for a team themselves, and so the responsibilities listed here will be in addition to the responsibilities of a Scrum Master.
The Agile Lead is well versed in all tools in the Lean Agile toolbox, including Scrum, Kanban, Lean etc. The role requires understanding our Airports and Baggage business and the forces that surround the Portfolio Engineering teams in order to understand which “tool” from the Agile toolbox is best to take out and use. With this deep understanding of the markets that support our business coupled with the Lean Agile mindset, the Portfolio Agile Lead will determine how we shape our Agile Processes for optimal and efficient support of our Airports business.
What you will do
- Guiding the portfolio scrum masters on Agile practices processes and values.
- Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment.
- Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame retribution or being judged with an emphasis on problem-solving.
- Facilitating discussion decision making and conflict resolution.
- Facilitating team ceremonies such as the daily stand-up sprint planning end of sprint demo and retrospective meetings.
- Supporting the team on the use of planning tools to enable tracking of progress with User Stories, Features, Epics and Initiatives via Sprint and Release Burndowns.
- Assisting with internal and external communication improving transparency and radiating information.
- Supporting and educating the Product Owner especially with regard to refining and maintaining the product backlog.
- Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible and leading by example.
- Guiding the team on self-organization, taking ownership and accountability.
- Assessing the Agile Maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.
- Coaches others to flow in the zone thereby identifying and compartmentalizing anxieties, fears and hindrances
- Coaches the scrum principles methodology and processes for a scrum team
- Assisting the Portfolio CTO to gather required metrics for reporting on team velocities, capacities and PI financials
- Generation of portfolio financial reporting for the Program Increment (estimated feature cost, actual feature cost, CAPEX:OPEX)
- Facilitate portfolio level Agile meetings such as the Portfolio Kanban, Roadmap Planning, PI Planning etc
- Understand the needs of the business, and mould the portfolio processes to suit both the business challenges and Agile principles
- Assist the Portfolio CTO and Engineering Managers surface and execute performance and efficiency improvements, as well as reporting
Who you are
- 8+ years of overall experience of working in a Software Development organization (Aviation industry preferred)
- 5+ years of Experience in applying Agile Manifesto in the process of software development & delivery
- 5+ years in people management
- Knowledge of various IT tools and techniques for IT project planning and organizing
- Experience in practicing Scrum Methodology in the process of software development & delivery
- Proven track record of mentoring and growing young talent
- Knowledge Sita’s Airports business (or the airports business in general) and the market forces our teams deliver into, in order to ensure our Agile Model is supportive of the business
- Professional leadership/management qualification desirable
