Contract Accountant/Part Qualified Accountant

Location: Kilkenny or Blanchardstown/Hybrid

Duration: Permanent




Overview of the Role:

As the Accountant, You will ensure the efficient running of the portfolio of an allocated number of contracts ensuring on-time delivery of accurate monthly financial reports to, Senior Contract Accountant and Senior Team. Key to this role is the requirement to build good working relationships with Operations and understand the detail of the contracts. Managing working capital and maintaining a high level of internal control is vital in order to manage financial risk.





Day to Day of the Role:

  • Monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, long term plans. The review & approval of financial information to include the monthly Regional Report, Monthly Financial Review Packs, Balance sheet reconciliations and other ad-hoc reports
  • Understand, identify and escalate any financial risks found in tasks performed.
  • Reporting performance both internally and to the Group.
  • Proactively provide regular feedback to the Senior Accountant and General Managers. Request assistance when required. Collaborative approach.
  • Demonstrate a control of your portfolio, a clear understanding of risks and performance issues. Develop actions as required. (task and completion dates).
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations identifying any key risks, assist internal control and external audit
  • Strong ability in highlighting key information when sending emails and reports.
  • Management of Working Capital and assisting the team in the management of Credit Control and Treasury Function.
  • Understand key drivers of contracts and forge strong relationships with Operations staff.
  • Communication of key performance information to operations and setting targets and action plans when required.
  • Drive automation of all manual processes & reports.
  • To assist the General Managers with key financial information required to manage their departments
  • Smooth transition of New Business Won into Operational P&L's. Assist The Group Commercial accountant with Investment reviews when required.
  • Ensure compliance of team to all Health and Safety policies
  • Taking responsibility for your duties and learning (including systems).
  • Have a high personal standard when delivering work.
  • Drive technology advancements within Finance and the rest of the business.
  • Ad hoc projects
  • Adherence with company code of conduct




Required Skills for the Role:

  • Part qualified accountant or working toward qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CP), final stage of exams with 3-5 years experience
  • At least 3 years accounting experience.
  • Strong IT and systems skills (with a focus on Financial Systems and controls - experience of process flow (re)design and implementation)
  • Strong Excel and analytical experience
  • Effective time management skills
  • Proven experience that demonstrates strong commercial acumen and appreciation of the needs of a dynamic multi- national organisation
  • Meet deadlines (flexibility at month end etc). Provide hands-on support when needed to meet targets.
  • Multi task with the ability to deliver on goals set
  • Clearly communicate and report performance at month end
  • Team player, driven attitude.
  • Work on your own initiative to a high standard. Think laterally and challenge ineffective processes and structures
  • Strong organisational skills. Utilise resources and existing technology to alleviate bottle-necks
  • Provide input and advice to all levels within Veolia
