Position Description

Asset Development is tasked with identifying, developing and constructing new investment opportunities on behalf of ESB Group. The Wind (onshore and offshore), Hydrogen, Flexgen and Storage teams within Asset Development have successfully developed or are in the process of developing a number of projects across the UK and Ireland, and are actively seeking to enhance this portfolio. Development activities comprise identifying and developing opportunities to enhance and expand the generation portfolio to achieve the ESB growth targets – bringing the projects from Concept Stage through to Commercial Operation. 



A Project Specialist vacancy has arisen in the Offshore Wind Ireland team. The successful candidate will support and assist the Project Directors and wider offshore wind team in managing related projects through the various development stages.



Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be involved in all activities related to the development of offshore wind and related projects up to final investment decision. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Assist in the management of development activities of offshore wind and related projects through the principal development stages
  • Support the Project Directors in managing projects in line with ESB’s Project Management Methodology
  • Collaborate with other teams within ESB across Procurement, Engineering and other areas to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
  • Support the Project Directors in managing Joint Venture Projects in line with the governance procedures
  • Support in the management of procurement processes for key contracts and services
  • Assist in business case development by optimising the capex, opex and yield for projects, in conjunction with the technical team.
  • Assist in the optimisation of projects for competitive auction processes, such as ORESS (Renewable Electricity Support System), to secure long term revenue streams.
  • Maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure health, safety and quality are incorporated into projects from the earliest stages of development.



Knowledge, Skills And Experience



Essential

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an energy or related sector
  • Strong project management capability
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Strong stakeholder management capability
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good decision-making capability and judgement
  • Ability to respond to change within a fast-changing and dynamic business environment.



Qualifications



Essential

  • The candidate must hold a primary degree in engineering, business or another relevant discipline, or equivalent relevant work experience is required.



Desirable

  • Prior experience in offshore wind or project development.



Location

The position is based in ESB Head Office, Dublin however, flexible working arrangements may be facilitated. Some travel in Ireland, the UK and further afield may be required periodically.

Based on the operational requirements of the role, smart working arrangements will be agreed between the Line Manager and the successful candidate based on the needs of the specific role, the individual and the team.

Reporting to

Programme Manager, Asset Development, Generation and Trading.

Salary

€45,000 - €53,000
