Your role
The Finance Business Partner is a critical enabler of business area and company performance by taking responsibility for all matters relating to strategic planning, annual budgeting, periodic forecasting, monthly performance management, KPI tracking & investment management. The role provides the opportunity to partner directly with the Maintenance & Engineering but work with related teams in Procurement, fleet, operations, and customer. This is a key role offering the opportunity to join an inclusive team, working collaboratively across the finance function and wider organisation, in a hybrid working model.
Your responsibilities as a Finance Business Partner Maintenance and Engineering will include:
- Provide Finance Business Partner support to the executive and senior management in the Maintenance & Engineering area of Aer Lingus.
- Responsible for budgets, forecasts and business plans (covering Capital Expenditure (“CAPEX”) and Operating Expenditure (“OPEX”) elements) for the business areas.
- Critically evaluate investment proposals and business cases and providing financial assessment support on costs and benefits.
- Work alongside and challenge the functional management to identify, evaluate and implement medium to long term initiatives to exploit revenue/commercial opportunities and address commercial and operational challenges.
- Identify, track and support cost reduction initiatives and work with functional management to identify and implement synergies.
- Develop KPIs, forecasts, business reviews to be structured, forward looking and commercially oriented. Understand and explain performance variances (both positive and negative); work with business managers to identify remedial measures if required and develop forecasts considering underlying variance causes and corrective actions.
- Take ownership of explaining, interpreting and analysing financial results relating to the Maintenance and Engineering area. Manage strategic and tactical KPIs, provide depth and precision to KPIs and bring insights to senior team.
- Become a trusted and critical finance business partner, in particular with respect to negotiations with key suppliers on short, medium and long term contracts. This will involve working with subject matter experts both within Aer Lingus and across the wider IAG Group operating companies and Procurement team.
Your Qualifications And Key Criteria
We are looking for an individual with experience / qualifications in the following areas:
- Qualified accountant, e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent experience with ideally at least 2 to 3 years of post-qualification experience.
- Accounting experience in a finance function/related group reporting experience.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of software applications combined with general proficiency in IT systems.
- A focus on continuous improvement in area of responsibility.
- Focused attitude to work, with the ability to constantly meet deadlines while ensuring excellent attention to detail & high levels of accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to include proven report writing & presentation skills.
- Provide three verifiable references.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Eligible to live and work in the EU.
- Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport.
- Able to pass an aviation security vetting process, that includes an enhanced background check* or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport as this position is based in Dublin.

Desirable criteria
A working knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP, ideally SAP 4 Hana, Oracle or equivalent desirable but not essential.
Experience with reporting tools such as Hyperion, Cognos or equivalent.
