Overview
Team ONE (Operations, Network and Employee Digital Experience) is looking for a Lead, Data Center Engineerin, and reporting to the SVP, Technology Operations, responsible for the Data Center Program, to drive our technology strategy forward by consistently innovating and problem-solving. The ideal candidate is passionate about the customer experience journey, has in-depth knowledge and experience in an operational environment, is highly motivated, curious, analytical, and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset.
Responsibilities include design, architecture, implementation, security and support of large multi-site, multi-vendor Data Center environments.
Role
In This Role, You Will:
- Manage Data Center infrastructure projects including the integration of M&A related infrastructure into the existing Mastercard data center footprints
- Develop detailed requirements for upgrading existing corporate LAN rooms and MasterCard Data Centers, as well as re-architecting Data Centers to facilitate new requirements, technologies and growth.
- Resolve Data Center operations problems impacting equipment performance globally.
- Participate in Data Center-related initiatives, including sustainability.
- Research and develop innovative solutions around Data Center technologies.
- Support assigned regional projects, which include responsibility for planning; time and cost control; resource utilization and implementation.
- Support Vendor management.
- Provide strategic technical direction on highly complex Data Center projects and activities involving the selection and recommendation of design approach and systems software technology.
- Serves as a point of escalation, resolving problems of diverse scopes where analysis of the situation requires in-depth technical evaluation and judgement
- Supports process improvement efforts to identify and test opportunities for automation and/or reduction in time to deployment
- Performs security posture, which includes proactively identifying security risks and implementing both risk mitigation plans and control functions
- Mentors junior staff by providing training to develop technical skills and capabilities across the team
All About You
- Be Proficient in English, both written and spoken
- Higher education degree - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Math, or Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Formal business or management training including Project Management, Strategic Planning, some finance experience, and related curriculum.
- Be able to work independently, multitask, set priorities, and have a sharp eye for details
- Be able to work in and adapt to a fast-paced changing environment
- Be able to work in a global environment and manage regional objectives through influence vs. direct reporting lines
- Always look for potential solutions to solve problems
- Be confident and assertive around exec management
- Technology awareness, preferably in payment industry
- Previous experience in a similar position preferred
- Display a culture of ‘getting things done’ with decency and transparancy
- Self-starter with demonstrated listening skills
Knowledge / Experience
- Five to eight years of overall IT experience in the following areas: - Networking, including LAN/WAN, Firewalls, wireless, Security and encryption technologies and Data Center technologies.
- Experience with TCP/IP protocol communications.
- Experience with IT Operations
- Knowledge of Telecommunication circuits.
- Advanced knowledge of Project Management methodology and best practices.
- Knowledge of Network diagnostics, BGP, SNMP, VPN, SSH, MPLS technologies
Work Conditions
- Support a 24 by 7 Global Network
- May require occasional travel
