Care Assistant/ Support Worker – Full-Time (1.00 WTE), Permanent Contract – Day Services – North Dublin

Gheel Autism Services provides day opportunities across Dublin and Co. Wicklow. This allows us to offer unique and personalised services which are based on the choices, needs and aspirations of the individual. Our Day Opportunity teams are in the process of working towards a New Directions model of service delivery. This is to suit the individual sensory and support needs of adults with autism. The Day Opportunity Support team provide a tailored style of support in local communities. Practitioners will support and promote the development of independent living skills, education, employment possibilities and social and leisure groups. Supports are delivered across locations in North and South Dublin respectively. The successful candidate will be required to work across all locations on a roster basis.

The Care Assistant will in conjunction with the work of the Practitioners assist in the development of independent living skills, education and employment possibilities and social and leisure groups.

The Day Supports positions predominantly operate Monday to Friday, but some weekend work may be required depending on the needs of the people we support - annual increments are included.

Essential Qualifications For Care Assistant Post

  • FETAC level 5 Qualification in Social Care.

or

  • Qualification in Health or Social Science.

Essential Experience For Care Assistant

  • Excellent communication & engagement skills
  • Experience of supporting individuals with a diagnosis of ASD
  • Ability to promote independence where applicable.
  • A thorough understanding of New Directions
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Report writing skills.
  • A full, clean drivers’ licence.

Desirable Criteria For This Post

  • Experience of case management.
  • Experience in developing support plans and carrying out reviews.
  • Ability to display flexibility in the role.
  • Willingness to develop professional skills as identified through supervision and managing their own CPD.
  • Information technology skills
  • Experience/ability to liaise and network with community services.

Salary Scale

  • Successful candidates will be paid in line with 2016 HSE revised consolidated Care Assistant pay scale point 6; €29,729 – point 13; € 36,680 per annum based on working a 39-hour week.
  • There is 23 days annual leave per annum.
  • The successful post holder will also be eligible for additional remuneration in addition to the aforementioned salary, point 3; €1,281 – LSI €2,164 per annum as per the phased pay restoration process between Section 39 Agencies and the Department of Health.
