About Wayflyer

Our mission is to empower eCommerce stores to unlock their full potential. Join us!

Wayflyer is revolutionising eCommerce by levelling the playing field for founders across the world. Our first product, the Merchant Cash Advance, solves a major pain point for brands: access to short-term finance to fund inventory and marketing spend.

Since launching in April 2020, we’ve deployed over $1.5bn in funding to 1,000’s of eCommerce founders across 10 countries.

We’ve helped companies like Wild, Dock & Bay and Branch take their businesses to the next level. Check out this video from Davie Fogherty, another one of our brilliant customers, giving a great explanation of what we do and how we helped The Oodie go from strength to strength.

We’re a fast-growing, venture-backed startup that serves a critical need for eCommerce entrepreneurs. You'll be joining an ambitious, collaborative team that's working on a huge opportunity.

We announced our Series B in February 2022 raising $150m in funding at $1.6bn valuation; backed by world-leading VCs including QED and DST Global.

Teams at Wayflyer are truly cross-functional. Regardless of your role at Wayflyer, you'll work with a variety of different disciplines and teams from around the world on a multitude of challenging projects and game-changing products to revolutionise the eCommerce landscape.

About The Team And Role

The Product Services group encapsulates the Data Services and Underwriting teams, and is the foundation upon which Wayflyer is able to quickly and effectively assess our customers’ businesses in order to provide them with the funding they need to grow their business.

We’re looking for an experienced product manager to own and collaboratively define the vision, product strategy, and user experience of the Product Services scope. As a key part of the Product Services team you’ll be joining a team of engineers and designers who have built products before at companies such as Amazon, Shopify, Tesco and Google.

As you read this ad, if you think you tick a lot of the boxes, but not all of them, we’d love to hear from you anyway, especially if you’re a woman or were raised in a culture that makes you underplay your achievements.

What you’ll be working on

We’re looking for a Product Lead or Senior Product Manager to bring an impact oriented approach to how we ingest and process all of our customers’ data and turn that into a world-class product experience that provides our underwriting team with everything they need to make sound lending decisions instantly. This is a unique opportunity to work on the systems that have deployed billions in funds to thousands of eCommerce businesses globally. The potential for you to make real impact for customers and the business is huge.

You’ll help the team connect the dots behind the scenes and work closely with the funding experience team to reduce the chance of customers getting stuck, making problems quick and easy to resolve when they do.

This role would suit candidates with fintech experience working on internal tooling, or a background in B2B2C. If wrangling complexity to drive efficiency, which in turn supports the key moment in the Wayflyer customer journey, then this role is for you.

Your day-to-day

  • You’ll drive the entire Product Services group made up of Underwriting & Data Services, and be embedded in and responsible for the outcomes of the cross-functional product teams within the group.
  • You’ll prioritise ruthlessly to ensure that the teams are set up for success, ensure that plans and prioritisation are explained and communicated to all stakeholders, and take ultimate accountability for the impact of the teams.
  • You’ll work closely with teams across the business to understand and solve for primary pain points in the underwriting process, including conducting in-depth research for the end to end process of a customer connecting their data with Wayflyer all the way through to being underwritten.
  • You’ll create and validate core hypotheses with your teams incorporating the use of best practice product frameworks — as necessary — throughout discovery and delivery.
  • You’ll be a champion within the business for every individual working on underwriting. Understand the domain as well as anyone else.
  • You’ll monitor and assess product performance and customer feedback to continuously improve the product, acknowledging that the product lifecycle only starts once any feature is live.
  • You’ll develop, execute and communicate to the wider org a product roadmap for the Product Services Group.
  • You’ll help raise the bar for product at Wayflyer. We’re a growing team, but every product manager plays a critical role in improving our community and culture – whether that’s through improving our best practices or mentoring other members of the team. We love an environment of giving and receiving feedback in which everyone can continue to grow.
  • You’ll regularly work with our product leadership, reporting to the incoming VP Product, to help make sure long-term strategy and business goals are all in alignment and we continue to have healthy opportunities for visibility and feedback across teams.

Who you are

The one thing that will decide if this role is right for you.

You must have worked as a senior level product manager in an early-to-mid-stage startup (series A-C) as part of the Product Management/ Product Design/Engineering trio and be able to demonstrate deep working knowledge of operating as a product manager who understands the value of working closely with engineers and designers and making decisions about the product together.

  • The ability to go deep into a problem and use insight, research and data to build products that create value for customers.
  • A combination of product sense and pragmatism, and an ability to find the path of least resistance to get to the desired outcome.
  • Excellent judgment - you’re able to make well-informed decisions and know when to go fast or slow down.
  • Experience working in fintech in an internal tooling context or at an API level.
  • An engaging relationship builder, who can rally people with different perspectives, backgrounds and concerns around a common goal.
  • You have strong opinions, loosely held. You create the space for diverse opinions, backed with data and experience to contribute to and influence decisions.
  • A high level of autonomy and comfort with ambiguity, Wayflyer is a startup so you need to enjoy the dynamism and volatility that comes with that, although that’s not a euphemism for chaos or toxicity.
  • Entrepreneurial and self-starting - you’re capable of finding ways to contribute towards team and company goals without waiting for direction.
  • A passion for continuous improvement and dissatisfaction with status quo; always thinking of ways to improve and move towards goodness.
