In 2020, the company partnered, in separate transactions, with both Foresight Group and Metka-EGN in relation to two portfolios to deliver a total of 276MW of UK solar development projects and was successful with two Irish solar projects in Ireland’s first solar auction, RESS-1 – Renewable Energy Support Scheme (RESS). In addition to the above, Elgin Energy delivered 21 solar projects, totaling 230MW, before the UK Government’s Renewables Obligation (ROCs) scheme ended in 2017.

Job Description

Elgin Asset Management is looking for a Commercial Asset Manager to help the growth of the company and be part of our skilled asset management team in managing assets in Ireland. The team is taking the front role in the commercial and technical management of our renewable energy and battery storage (BESS) projects from the commencement of operations.

The ideal candidate will coordinate and handle all commercial aspects concerning operations and asset management of our Irish projects. You will assist in the further development of our asset management function and create solid long-term client relationships. The ideal candidate will be willing to expand their technical and commercial skills to support the growth of the company in the coming years.

Job Specification

Your Responsibilities

• Commercial management of operating battery storage (BESS) and photovoltaic (PV) projects with continuous update of the Operational Budget with close cooperation with the teams
• Ensure good and trustful relationship with investors, local partners, utilities, PPA partners, landowners, etc. and close collaboration with internal stakeholders e.g., Group Finance, PPA team, and Project team
• Support during the formulation of the annual accounts and the audit processes from the operational standpoint and update of rolling cash forecasts to identify any potential breach or upside regarding the assets
• Contract management, reviewing and updating existing contracts in line with market standards and trends
• Understanding and advising the asset owner on the services provided by the BESS in coordination with the Energy Trading & Optimisation team

Your profile

• Completed University degree (e.g. business administration, economics, engineering, finance)
• Minimum 2 years experience in any of the following: Commercial Asset Management, Technical Asset Management, Project Management (however only experience for assets located in Ireland)
• Renewables experience in PV and/or BESS preferred however will also consider Wind
• Financial knowledge of photovoltaic, battery storage, hydrogen or other renewable energy projects (key aspects of the business model)
• Hybrid interest in commercial and technical aspects of asset management
• High level of self-motivation and ability to work independently
• MS Office, especially advanced skills in Excel
• High focus on setting priorities, keeping up with deadlines, communication and organisational abilities
