The Everest International Insurance Finance & Actuarial team provides high-profile services across Europe serving key stakeholders across Everest international Insurance and the wider Everest group.

The Finance function at Everest is expanding and building a stable foundation in preparation for significant growth of the business. As part of the expansion, the accounting and operational processes relating to the ceded reinsurance activities of Everest International Insurance, which is currently centralised, will transfer to the international finance team. This role supports the Senior Reinsurance Accountant in the day-to-day accounting activities relating to ceded reinsurance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the design, implementation and maintenance of a consistent control framework, which is compliant with Sarbanes-Oxley, covering both reinsurance placement and accounting
  • Support the design and implementation of a closing calendar and controls relating to the ceded reinsurance operations which meet International and Divisional quarterly closing calendar deadlines
  • Ensure and deliver timely quarterly financial reconciliations of ceded reinsurance related accounts in support of the Everest Group’s consolidated US GAAP financial statements and local accounting and regulatory standards
  • Prepare on a timely basis, ceded accounts, bordereaux and recording of related ceded payable and recoverable amounts
  • Ensure timely collection and payment of ceded reinsurance balances
  • Deliver requested data to actuarial teams to meet reserving requirements
  • Set-up treaty (Quota Share, Excess of Loss, Automatic Facultative, aggregates, retentions, inuring coverages, exclusions, adjustable features, etc.) and facultative reinsurance contracts in the ceded reinsurance accounting system
  • Assist in additional projects as assigned

Professional Qualifications, Education & Experience:

  • Proven accounting experience
  • BSC degree in accounting, finance or business preferred
  • Relevant experience in the finance operations accounting department of a financial services company (preferably insurance or reinsurance).

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:

  • Understanding of, or desire to learn about the functions pertaining to ceded reinsurance accounting
  • Desire to join newly formed and growing team.
  • Experience of large data sets and systems based data transformation/calculations in a finance environment.
  • Knowledge of SQL is preferred.
  • Excellent PC skills; must be proficient in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables & VLOOKUPS)
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and technical skills
  • Strong Interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to effectively manage time and be able to multitask in an ever-changing environment
