Task

Kilkenny Helping the Homeless need the assistance of a Volunteer Driver to help them with their services.

Volunteers will support Kilkenny Helping the Homeless by delivering furniture, essential supplies to families and individuals in need across Kilkenny city.

Volunteers will be asked to collect food and supplies from a central location in Kilkenny city. They will have access to the services van and fuel will be provided. Volunteer will need to be able to drive a small van .

The commitment is 2 -3 hours per week but will be flexible to what suits the volunteers.

About Us

Kilkenny Helping the Homeless was set up in response to an emerging need for a service locally that could help people in the community who have been affected by the housing and homeless crisis.

The organisation began by distributing donated furniture, clothing, shoes, toiletries, food to families in need in Kilkenny. However, after a period of time we saw the need for services in Dublin, where so many people were finding themselves homeless and in need of support.

As well as providing meals and donated items to those who need them in Kilkenny, we also travel to Dublin each Saturday where we bring our soup table to Grafton Street and help with feeding the homeless who live rough on the streets, providing them with hot food, clothing, sleeping bags, tents, toiletries etc.

We also provide Christmas food hampers which we distribute to families in need and we operate a facebook Group where donations of pre loved items of furniture, household good etc are donated to those in need.

What’s Required

Drivers must be over 21 years of age and have a full clean driving license. They will be asked for a copy of their license before volunteering. Drivers must be empathetic and work well as part of a team.
