Senior Planning Consultant (Mid-Senior Level) Full-time Job

Job Details

We are seeking Senior Planners to join ERM’s growing town planning and consents team, to be based in either Dublin, Cardiff, York, Glasgow or Edinburgh.


As part of ERM’s global planning team you will be leading on securing consents and providing technical leadership and advice across a wide range of industries and market sectors. You will be responsible for working with the world’s leading organisations on the delivery of large complex projects and initiatives.


Key areas of the team’s work are:


  • Providing planning leadership, advice and services in securing consents for major projects, including renewables - solar, on and off-shore wind, hydrogen, and carbon capture and storage (CCS), and also projects within the Technology, Mining and Transport Sectors.
  • Providing planning expertise to other ERM business sectors e.g. environmental assessment, sustainability appraisal, land and property strategy, environmental permitting, mining regeneration and marine.
  • Providing planning advice and expertise on a variety of projects across Ireland, UK nations and other international projects.
  • Delivery of planning and related applications and appeals.


We are looking for motivated people with a passion for sustainability, with the relevant skills, experience and enthusiasm, who want to develop their careers and help sustain ERM as a leading environmental and planning consultancy through business development and innovation.


To be a strong candidate, you should have:


  • an RTPI accredited planning qualification and be MRTPI or working towards it.
  • relevant post qualification planning experience
  • a particular interest in working on the environmental and planning aspects of major infrastructure and development projects and policy studies.
  • experience in the development of consenting strategies for large complex projects.
  • experience in working in multiple planning regulatory frameworks.
  • a desire for personal professional development, and a strong willingness to mentor others.
  • excellent report writing, analytical and inter-personal skills.
