Locations:

Working hours:

  • Full- Time, 39 Hours per week

Contract:

  • Permanent

The successful candidate will work closely with the Social Care Manager in delivering of activities and Social Care Leaders to provide support and training to the Care team.

Duties Include (but are not limited to):

  • Contribute to and enhance the quality of resident activities and events.
  • Assist the Social Care Manager in the development and delivery of social care programmes, events and activities.
  • To support social outings, promote relationships which enable each Resident to participate in social activities within the Home and in the life of the local community to the maximum of their ability.
  • Monitoring, supervising and overseeing Carers in delivering care directly, ensuring that they are up to standard and providing training and mentoring where required.
  • To supervise and assist with the training and development of care assistants and appraise staff as requested.
  • By liaising with the Unit Persons in Charge and Care Leads to ensure that adequate arrangements are made for the reception of new Residents, and that they are made to feel welcome and secure.
  • Ensure highest quality care is delivered by Healthcare Assistants to assigned residents.
  • Participate in assigned and delegated tasks involving direct care and all activities of daily living under the direction and supervision of your line manager e.g. washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, dining, social activities, conversation, communication support and all other aspects of daily living.
  • To be responsible for monitoring the Homeliness of the unit i.e. housekeeping, laundry, mealtime experience to ensure the role of the care assistant in supporting these functions is completed and audited.
  • To maintain timely and accurate records regarding the Residents as required. To maintain reports on the daily flows and ensure that all relevant information is clearly handed over as required. To be fully aware of all the policies and procedures.
  • Support the nursing staff in the organising of day-to-day allocation of work.
  • Assist with rostering and line management of the Care staff.
  • Any other duties as assigned by line manager.

Specific Responsibilities of an Health Care Assistant :

  • Responsible for activities co-ordination as directed by the Social Care Manager.
  • Responsible for leading the Care Team with the support of the Unit Person in Charge in allocating the day-to-day activities of the Carers.
  • Responsible in ensuring a regular review of the day to allocation according to the skill mix of care team and needs of the residents.
  • Responsible for guiding the Care Team in the implementation and completion of any projects delegated by the Unit Person in Charge.
  • To assist Nurses and Managers in the supervision and monitoring of Compliance, Infection Control.
  • Advanced Care Practitioners are responsible in mentoring new staff and support staff. They will take part in the assessment process during the orientation and probation period.
  • Advanced Care Practitioners work in partnership with the Social Care Manager . They are responsible in ensuring effective and efficient implementation of scheduled activities.

Requirements:

  • QQI Level 5 Award – Healthcare or relevant qualification
  • Knowledge of Residential Care Legislation and HIQA Standards.
  • Excellent track record as a high performing Healthcare worker
  • Must Nursing Home and Elder care experience (3 years + experience)
  • Ability to motivate, supervise and inspire colleagues.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent personal care abilities

  • Nursing Degree / Allied Health Degree / Relevant Healthcare Degree
