Location: Molesworth Street, Dublin 2 – Hybrid working (Min 2 days in the Office)

About the Role:

The Risk Function in AIB is an independent, second line of defence function that monitors, controls and supports risk-taking activities across AIB. The purpose of the Risk Function is to provide advice and guidance in relation to risk while providing independent oversight and reporting on AIB’s risk profile.


The Risk Function’s main objective is to ensure AIB has a robust risk management framework and culture in place to ensure risks are taken within the risk appetite set by the Board, in support of AIB’s customer franchise and social responsibility.


This Change role is within Group Operational Risk where we perform Risk management for Operational Risk through the Operational Risk Framework and supporting policies, monitoring and reporting. The Change team’s purpose is to provide oversight and guidance for Material Change Initiatives and support their successful and controlled delivery. This activity is delivered through a risk-based approach and in line with our change risk oversight methodology and policy.


The purpose of this role is to operate across the Change portfolio in AIB, to influence senior leaders and stakeholders to identify, measure and monitor existing and emerging Change risks. To ensure Change Risk priorities are delivered in accordance with Risk Appetite. Provides insight into and formulates resolutions/policies to existing and emerging Change risk challenges. The role reports to the Head of Strategic Risk Portfolio on the Change Risk Team in Operational Risk.


Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Has a technical knowledge of Change risk and tools which they can utilise to make risk decisions and recommendations to management. Experienced in the escalation of risk exposures in line with Group frameworks to relevant governance forum for approval.
  • Uses professional and independent change risk judgement to develop recommendations for process/policy enhancements to resolve root causes of change risk issues to business leaders.
  • Builds business relationships with management to assist the implementation of Change Risk initiatives. Operates at a Group wide level and may Interact with external stakeholders such as regulatory bodies.
  • Can influence management in decision making to ensure that business activities operate within defined risk appetites and controls are operating effectively.
  • Champions a Customer First culture in support of our Purpose, strategic ambition and Brand Values, by ensuring processes and procedures consistently promote good outcomes for all our customers.


What you will bring:

  • Extensive experience operating at a change risk management level in a financial services organisation
  • Min of 10 years’ experience in financial services in an Assurance, Audit or Risk management role;
  • Have a proven understanding and demonstrable experience of Change risk management in the financial services at a senior level.
  • Effective relationship management, communication and influencing skills both written and verbal at management level.
  • Understands and applies change risk principles and tools.
  • Develops and/or applies change tools and techniques to evaluate change management control structures and environments
