Position Summary:
Program Managers lead multiple projects and the people running them—they can deliver a program, or a portfolio of projects. They may lead a large, strategically critical project or projects to ensure timelines and goals are met/communicated appropriately.
This position will be in the Process Development Department supporting implementation of manufacturing processes, resources, materials, and systems to drive speed to market, product quality, ease of manufacturability and reduction in cost when compared with existing product platforms across their program.
What you will do:
- People Management: Manages large (often multi-project, multi-site) cross functional development teams; leads teams effectively; provides input to functional managers on team about team member performance.
- Product/Technology Management: Manages the technical challenges of technology application and new product development; identifies, communicates, and manages moderate to high levels of technical risk.
- Project/Program Management: Manages key initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing processes; develops and manages adherence to project/program plans (including scope, timeline, and budget); builds team ownership and commitment to plans; mentors and/or coaches other functional and project managers. Identifies potential project risks and develops contingency/mitigation plans consistent with the risk. Leads identification of technical risks in design and process development; leads formulation of derisking strategies. Develops potential opportunity plans that include analysis of gain versus cost for each opportunity.
- Process Management: Implements TDP/PDP; sustaining and BI activities; leads team to complete activities to current policies and practices; keeps documentation organized, creates Scaling Plan and Design History File for the project. Identifies process improvements affecting multiple projects.
- Communications and Reviews: Responsible for team and cross-functional communications; liaison between the team and the IB, PIB, c-PIB; may provide input to IGC and SGTs; leads phase and business reviews; publishes project meeting minutes, issues log, metrics, and other key communications. Communicates and influences resolution of cross-functional issues, with proactive escalation for timely and appropriate resolution.
- Quality. Builds quality into all aspects of work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements for self and team. Leads compliance projects and programs following established approaches such as Quality Plans and Project Tracking Plans that are standalone or that support CAPAs.
- Co-Development. Develops and leads plans for projects/programs involving 3rd parties (such as projects requiring IS development, external contract developers, partnership with other businesses within Stryker) following mutually developed Quality Plans that support the requirements of multiple Quality Systems.
- Business Acumen. For new products and design changes, has a deep understanding of configuration management to guide formulation of cross functional decisions and compromise and leads decision making for worldwide launches based on regulatory submission requirements in all 70 countries.
What you will need:
- B.S. degree in engineering or applicable technical field (mechanical or biomedical preferred); MS and/or MBA preferred Qualifications/Work Experience Required
- Minimum of 9 years engineering / project experience (five of which are project management) in a regulated industry essential. Has demonstrated ability to successfully plan, prioritize, multitask, and organize multi-disciplinary team(s) to successfully achieve project deliverables.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification preferred.
- Has applied knowledge of FDA & International medical device regulations.
- Demonstrates leadership ability and ability to communicate with all levels of management and employees. Business experience demonstrated through business knowledge, leadership skills and process development capabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills including risk management experience.
- Experience in process validation preferred.
- Experience with delivering results through 6sigma and lean methods is preferred.
