Job Summary:As a Technical Domain Architect for APIs, the ideal candidate will assist the wider Technical Architecture organization to design best-in-class API solutions globally across all functional areas for Trane Technologies. The candidate should have hands-on experience in API architecture design and development.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for architecting and maturing API standards for Trane Technologies in line with target state architecture.
  • Actively provide insights and recommendations on the design and deployment of a full API lifecycle management framework, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance utilizing industry lead platforms and tools.
  • Champion best practices across all aspects of API management while safeguarding data integrity and optimizing operational efficiencies.
  • Provide continuous improvement opportunities by evaluating emerging trends in Microservices, APIs that align with Trane Technologies overall strategy and direction.
  • Foster a culture of excellence and innovation, promoting knowledge sharing in the design and use of API architecture including API best practices on large scale projects.
  • Communicate the status of technical stacks and initiatives to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Establish metrics and scorecards to ensure inner/outer APIs are optimized to ensure high scalability and availability.
  • Contribute to the development of sustainable and scalable API patterns for the purpose of enabling application and platform teams to delivery more/better/faster.
  • Apply lean thinking to designs across the full lifecycle of API, integration, and systems.
  • Ability to oversee Vendor management and participate in customer advisory boards.
  • Stay tethered to best in class DevSecOps practices and industry trends.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will be driven and possess exceptional Business Acumen coupled with strong working knowledge of API Management platform implementations in addition to some of the following skills:

  • Self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of system architecture, integration architecture and data architecture standards, frameworks and practices.
  • Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with API design patterns, RESTful principles, and API security protocols (oAuth, JWT etc.).
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or related field, with a minimum of 12 years experience in Information Technology.
  • Eight or more years of hands-on working experience as a Domain Architect with in-depth experience on API design and development from a practitioner standpoint.
  • Depth of experience in decomposable application environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Proven ability to create visual diagrams using Visio or other tools to communicate integration architectures and solutions.
  • Experience leading API strategy/roadmap in alignment with business objectives.
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD concepts.
  • Ability to work multiple tasks simultaneously among changing priorities.
