Gheel Autism Services provides a wide range of services for autistic adults including day and vocational opportunities, outreach support and a variety of supported living options. Across our services we consider how each person thinks, learns, and processes information to develop a personalised plan of support. Social Care Worker/ Autism Practitioner– Day Services, Permanent Contract, Full-Time (1.00 WTE) – North Dublin

Gheel Autism Services provides day opportunities across North and South Dublin. These allows us to offer unique and personalised services which are based on the choices, needs and aspirations of the individual. Our day services are in process of working towards a New Directions model of service delivery. This is also to suit the individual sensory and support needs of adults with autism. Day Opportunity Services provide a tailored style of support in local communities. Support workers will in conjunction with the work of the Practitioners assist in the development of independent living skills, education and employment possibilities and social and leisure groups.

The Day Services predominantly operate on daytime hours Monday to Friday, but some flexibility may be required depending on the needs of the people we support - annual increments are included.

Essential Qualifications For Social Care Worker/ Autism Practitioner Post

  • Level 7 award in Social Care/Studies delivered by an Institute of Technology, DIT or National University of Ireland

Or/

  • A relevant qualification received outside the State recognised by NARIC as equivalent to the Irish Level 7 award.

Or/

  • Relevant third level qualification at degree level i.e. social work, psychology, and/or allied health.

Or/

  • Post-graduate qualification in Autism Studies

Essential Criteria For This Post

  • Excellent communication & engagement skills
  • At least one-year recent experience in the social care sector
  • Ability to promote independence where applicable
  • A thorough understanding of the HIQA regulations

Desirable Criteria For This Post

  • Experience of supporting individuals with a diagnosis of ASD and knowledge of Autism
  • Experience of case management
  • A full, clean drivers licence

Salary Scale

  • Successful candidates will be paid in line with 2016 HSE revised consolidated Social Care Worker pay scale point 3; €33,325 – point 12; €44,306 per annum based on working a 39-hour week - annual increments are included.
  • The successful post holder will also be eligible for additional remuneration in addition to the aforementioned salary, point 3; €1,891 – LSI €2,781 per annum as per the phased pay restoration process between Section 39 Agencies and the Department of Health.
  • There is 25 days annual leave/195 hours per annum.
