Position Overview

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing legal assistance to the Business, including relationship managers, investment advisors, portfolio managers, trading desk as well as to the Risk and Support Functions, such as Compliance, Anti Financial Crime, Credit Risk Management, Human Resources etc.
  • Provide day-to-day ad hoc legal advice and guidance in relation to clients' questions and issues in relation to private banking and product related matters
  • Review, draft and negotiate contractual documentation, e.g. client/account opening documentation, IT contracts, outsourcing agreements etc.
  • Provide legal assistance in complex lending transactions, including structured lending, art lending etc. Assisting in the structuration of the transaction, drafting, respectively reviewing the Finance Documents, including lending agreements, pledges etc.
  • Provide legal support in new business initiatives and implementation of new legal and regulatory requirements in relation to private banking and product related matters
  • Work on various global private banking and product related matters covering Switzerland in liaison with colleagues in other offices, in particular in the EMEA region, APAC and the US
  • Manage inheritance matters
  • Manage litigation, criminal and regulatory proceedings with the assistance of external counsel
  • Provide legal assistance to the Business on Swiss banking secrecy and data protection questions
  • Provide Legal advice on Swiss labor law

Experience/Exposure

  • Professional post qualifying experience of at least 3 years in the a.m. fields gained in the financial services industry (top-tier law firm or in house)
  • Strong knowledge/experience of Swiss banking and financial laws and regulations, with a particular focus on:
    • Lending transactions
    • IT contracts
    • Swiss banking secrecy and data protection

Education/Qualifications/Skills

  • Swiss Master in law + Swiss law qualified attorney-at-law
  • German mother tongue and fluent in English
  • Ability to manage several projects/transactions simultaneously and deliver high quality results in a timely manner
  • Efficient problem solver
  • Ability to work both in a team and independently
  • Excellent analytical, judgment and decision making skills
  • Excellent drafting skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
