Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for a Human Resources Generalist to join our team. As part of the Human Resources Group, the Human Resources Business Partner handles a wide range of HR tasks and ensures the smooth operations of the HR functions on a day-to-day basis for all our Spanish business units covering an IT startup hub (Nextport) and an established business in our sector. Provides tactical support for employment, employee relations, performance management, benefits, recognition and compensation administration. This role interacts with staff at all levels and provides technical guidance/ direction to colleagues and our Spanish leadership team.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Establishes a culture to support employees through their lifecycle from onboarding through to development
  • Ensures compliance with country labor laws and company policies
  • Addresses employee concerns, conducts investigations, and ensures a positive work environment.
  • Partners with various HR functions to assist employees in the various concerns that may come up through the employee life cycle; for example, adding a child to benefits, referring a friend for a position and/or issue with manager
  • Supports employee development with local providers ensuring health & safety compliance, personal development and leadership development
  • Assist in the implementation of corporate policy at the business unit or division level
  • Facilitates organization and leadership development efforts, working with employees and managers to address root causes of human resources issues
  • Resolves employee relations issues through a systematic approach
  • Assists senior management in the development of solutions through cultural and process perspective organizational development
  • Develops and drives company-wide programs and initiatives (e.g., salary review, benefits renewal, payroll queries, workforce planning, and organizational change)
  • Lead special projects in the realm of human resources management

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in a human resources department
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Excellent English & Spanish verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Preferred education and experience

  • Professional HR Qualification
  • Masters Degree in related field
  • Experience in immigration administration and/ or International assignments a plus
  • SHRM-CP

Physical requirements:

Sedentary for prolonged period of time, interact with clients, and travel occasionally.
