International Finance Director 100%



Job Description

In this position, your overall objective is the responsibility for all aspects of the accounting/finance department for STAAR Surgical AG and all of its subsidiaries, branches and sister companies.


  • You are responsible for maintaining the company’s cash requirements and reporting as well as for maintaining appropriate cash balances at each location and bank
  • You will oversee the proper application of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in the reporting packages and in the consolidated and consolidating financial statements
  • You ensure that the department’s employees are adequately trained and supervised
  • You ensure the timely delivery of accurate and complete information of the financial statements such as balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows and reporting packages
  • You coordinate and oversee all audits, both financial and tax for all subsidiaries, branches, parent and sister companies.
  • You will work closely with tax consultants and Corporate office to define the optimal tax structure.
  • You will work closely with U.S. Financial Planning & Analysis group’s requests and timelines.
  • You will ensure documentation is accurate and accounting controls are in place and functioning properly in accordance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.
  • You should have experience in or involvement with implementation of a new ERP system. You will ensure work instructions/desktop procedures are documented/updated appropriately.


Your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent with certification as public Accountant or chartered Accountant.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of work experience in a similar position, preferably in a manufacturing environment and in a subsidiary of a U.S. company on a listed stock exchange.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience as supervisor.
  • Thorough knowledge of Swiss and U.S. GAAP.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills in English with mother tongue German or French.
  • Excellent Excel skills, including working with pivot tables and Vlookup/Hlookup formulas.
  • Ability to interact with personnel at different levels and across functions in the organization in a professional manner.
  • Ability to problem solve and take initiative, highly motivated.
  • Keen attention to details and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work efficiently and maintain discipline in order to meet deadlines.
