About The Role
Remitly is hiring a Head of Region/Business Manager to lead our business growth in the EU region. We are looking for an experienced, commercially minded individual to promote the growth of our EU business. This is a strategy and operations role involving planning, building, and executing initiatives across product, pricing, marketing, customer service and other departments, and overseeing the management of our EU entity in Ireland. You will be based in Ireland. Occasional travel to the rest of Europe or Seattle may be required.
Within this role, you will serve as a member of the Remitly Europe Limited Board and have a reporting line to the Remitly Europe Ltd. Board of Directors. This role holds the PCF-1 and 8 function and therefore candidates must meet minimum requirements of Central Bank of Ireland fitness and probity rules and be subject to Central Bank of Ireland approval.
What You'll Do
- Strategy and business performance of Remitly EU
- The Head of Region ensures that the company achieves its strategic objectives and to provide leadership and direction to the executive management team and staff. They are accountable for overall sustainable growth of the business region’s P&L, and responsible for driving key performance indicators including new customers, monthly active customers, transactions, volume, revenue, unit economics and customer lifetime value.
- Responsible for the performance against the annual business plan and budget.
- Drive customer learnings and hypotheses generation to iterate faster towards the right customer and business outcomes
- Strategy - you will oversee the ongoing views about EU competition, market, and customer trends. You will translate regional strategies into specific market goals across multiple functions
- Cross-team partnership - you will partner closely with marketing, product, pricing, and other relevant teams in Remitly Europe and Remitly International to identify ways to grow KPIs within the region and improve overall customer experience
- Analytics - through collaboration with the analytics team, you will create customer behaviour and market analyses to obtain insights and develop executional plans
- Build and lead an effective and cohesive Executive Management team
- Preparation of quarterly business reports for the attention of the Board of Directors
- Entity governance and management
- You will be accountable for the relationship with the Central Bank of Ireland
- In partnership with our EMEA Compliance team, oversee, implement and enforce company policies and procedures to comply with relevant anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing regulations
- Responsible for the timely escalation of breaches and material risk exposures to the Board.
- Contribution to the development of sound corporate governance practices and mechanisms.
- Act as executive director of the company requiring attendance at board meetings and involvement with specific projects or work requiring input of an executive director
- Defining goals, timeframes, operational and financial KPIs on which progress, achievements and challenges can be readily identified and addressed.
- Ensure the company fulfils its legal, statutory and regulatory responsibilities and maintains an effective internal controls structure whereby its business is carried on in compliance with all applicable legislation and guidance including but limited to PSR’s, authorisation conditions imposed by the central bank, consumer protection requirements, outsourcing, operational resilience, AML/CTF and other applicable regulatory guidance and requirements
- Collaboration with other Remitly entities
- You will be a champion of EU-related activities and plans. You will be an active and inclusive member of the Remitly International team and will take the lead on corridor plans, share best practices, and collaborate and support other regions and departments
- Drive executional excellence on initiatives and define the right strategic context/clear prioritisation for stakeholders
- Lead building business cases for key initiatives and influence prioritisation of partner-teams' roadmaps through structured business impact / customer centric frameworks
Who You Are
- 10+ years of experience in Fintech, consumer technology, strategy consulting or e-commerce industry sectors
- Previous experience and highly capable at managing complex regulatory relationships
- Experience in, and highly effective in a general management role
- Experience working in a global matrix organisation and in fast growth international environments
- Grasp of drivers and mechanics for high transaction volume businesses. Strong business acumen and decision making skills
- Previous experience with data modelling / analysis
- Strong problem solving skills, ability to generate good quality hypotheses (combining qual and quant insights). Ability to lead other junior members or a cross-functional squad to deep dive into an ambiguous problem statement with a significant impact on the business, create structured logical frameworks, and help key stakeholders drive towards a business and customer centric solution
- Highly effective at cross-functional stakeholder management
- Strong communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills
- Desirable: An MBA or graduate degree in a quantitative discipline
- Desirable: experience developing an online strategy (strategy/positioning, traffic acquisition programs, brand development work and product conversion improvement)
