Role: Facilities Caretaker

Location: Based in Long Mile Road, Dublin with possible need to travel to other Dublin locations from time to time

Reporting to: Tenant Relations Officer

Terms: Permanent Contract – full-time 39 hours (across Mon-Sat)

Salary: €25,000-€30,000

Job Purpose: To provide an effective link between Respond and tenants, to maintain the schemes communal areas, carry out weekly health and safety checks and facilitate access to and management of the community space.

Responsibilities

CARETAKING & SECURITY

  • Inspect the estate daily, health & safety equipment, and grounds.
  • Carry out and record weekly health and safety and fire safety checks.
  • Keep the communal areas clean, to a high standard including bin sheds, communal grounds, car parks and if required the removal of rubbish from estate.
  • Reporting daily to Tenant Relations officer on all matters concerning the estate.
  • Report any repairs or defects to the maintenance department.
  • Supervise the security and proper use of the building and its facilities including the community space.
  • Facilitate access to Respond contractors as required.
  • Light grounds maintenance as required including litter picking, leaf collection, weeding flower beds etc.
  • Removing graffiti, pavement cleaning as required.
  • Report any abandoned vehicles.
  • Arrange skips and removal of bulk rubbish when required.
  • Check all lifts and access points in to the blocks.
  • Assist the Tenants Relations Officer in the delivery of mail/leaflets.
  • Carrying out minor repairs, i.e. repairing locks, replacing light bulbs, painting, carpentry work etc.
  • Be responsible for regular health & safety checks of playground and recording of same.
  • Liaise with external agencies as required.
  • Attend after hours’ emergencies if required/requested by Tenant Relations Officer.
  • Any other duties as deemed necessary by Tenant Relations Officer.

TENANT SUPPORT

  • Communicate and liaise with tenants, to assist the Tenants Relations Officer including attendance at meetings as required.
  • Facilitate meter readings as requested.
  • Report any breaches of house rules in the estate such as anti-social behaviour.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • Conduct all activities in a manner which is safe to yourself and others.
  • To be aware and act in accordance with the Respond’s Health and Safety Policy.
  • Ensure safety of the playground.

GENERAL

  • Participate on forums/working groups/committees as required.
  • Undertake other occasional duties which are consistent with the responsibilities of the role.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and to have responsibility for ensuring adequate cleaning materials/supplies are maintained as issued.
  • Develop relationships with local Community Gardaí.
  • At all times be aware of all GDPR requirements of the post.
  • Ensure all activities are aligned to Respond’s values while adhering to policy and procedures.
