Internship Treasury and Trade Operations

Your role:
As an intern in our four-person Operations team, you will support all investment divisions (liquid, private equity, and real estate) and gain hands-on experience across complex middle office functions. We are looking for a candidate with some background in Operations or Financial Services, ideally with exposure to banking, or a major custodian.
Key Responsibilities
You will assist with a variety of operational functions, including:
- Liquidity & Cash Management: Monitoring liquidity requirements to meet funding needs, handling payments, and reconciling balances and transactions between banks and internal systems.
- Trade and Position Management: Ensuring timely trade booking, reconciling cash and security positions with custodians and external counterparties, investigating breaks, and ensuring settlements. Assisting with regulatory reporting requirements.
- Stakeholder Relationships: Maintaining effective relationships with custodians, brokers, transfer agents, and administrators, and overseeing service delivery.
- Operational Excellence: Identifying areas for improvement, streamlining processes, and implementing best practices to drive efficiency and accuracy.
- Internal Controls & Audit: Monitoring internal controls as part of the annual ISAE 3000 audit, recommending improvements to ensure compliance.
- Reporting: Generating reports on metrics and KPIs to provide insights into operational performance.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Promoting effective communication and coordination across departments.
Requirements:
- Some prior experience in financial services or operations, either through previous internships or entry-level roles.
- Attention to detail and accuracy, high standards of quality, inquisitiveness as well as a positive hands-on approach to challenges.
- A proactive and positive attitude, with the ability to solve problems efficiently and effectively. Strong team player with a strong sense of self-motivation, intellectual curiosity and willingness to share experience and knowledge.
- Eagerness to expand the scope of expertise specifically within investment support areas
- Strong problem-solving skills, good quantitative and qualitative skills
- Experience of change management initiatives ideally from initiation to implementation
- Comfortable interacting with professionals at all levels in various departments and with counterparties
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel, knowledge of financial markets
- Experience with Efront, Thinkfolio or Markit EDM would be an advantage
- Excellent communication skills and command of written English (German is a plus)
