Your role

As a HR Case Manager in the People & Change Department, you will play a pivotal role in supporting managers in the investigation and consideration of employment related issues and complaints in line with company processes and to support the HRBP team in advising business areas in the rapidly changing commercial and industrial relations environment. The HR Case Management team helps to drive Aer Lingus ambition by playing an important role in the Aer Lingus People and Change strategy by providing essential support to business areas to ensure that our work practices, internal HR case management and employment policies meet with best practice standards. The People and Change Department is responsible for the management of all employment issues which raised internally and externally, to include internal grievances and complaints and claims to third party fora. In addition, the HRBP team require the support of the case management team to advise them on practice and procedure and to assist with individual HR cases and processes. This is a fixed-term role for 12 months.

Your Responsibilities As a HR Case Manager Will Include

  • Manage the investigations of internal grievances and complaints to outcome stage to include appointing managers, conducting investigations, disciplinary and appeal processes, scheduling and planning meetings.
  • Ensure that cases are resolved in line with Aer Lingus policies and processes and timescales.
  • Provide guidance and support on writing comprehensive investigation reports and other HR documentation as necessary.
  • Develop best practice and innovative approaches to conflict resolution, seeking to resolve conflict at the earliest occasion and engaging independent mediation where appropriate.
  • The provision of timely and pragmatic advice to business areas on people/HR case management issues, procedures and processes.
  • Supporting managers in HR case management processes.
  • Handle queries from staff on an individual basis in relation to a range of personal issues including grievances and respect & dignity.
  • Assist in the preparation for third party cases referred to the Workplace Relations Commission, the Labour Court and civil courts.
  • Provide clarity and support to line managers on all issues pertaining to HR case management.
  • Other people-related tasks and projects as requested by the Employment Law Manager.

Your Qualifications And Key Criteria

We are looking for an individual with experience / qualifications in the following areas:

  • 3rd Level Qualification in relevant field (HR, Law, Industrial Relations, Psychology) or proven relevant work experience.
  • Professional qualification in HR or employment law.
  • Significant experience in a business environment dealing with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of human resources and case management processes and best practice.
  • Experience of working with trade unions and/or legal representatives in resolving complex cases or disputes.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of employment law around fair procedures, investigations and disciplinary procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Team player with the proven ability to work on own initiative in a fast paced, ever changing environment.
  • Ability to create and develop strong collaborative working relationships across all levels in the organisation.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal with a proven ability to interpret information, assess and present facts clearly and objectively and to make findings based on different versions of events.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and decision making skills.
  • Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters with high integrity.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain neutrality and impartiality whilst immersing self in the detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Power Point and Excel).
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Eligible to live and work in the EU.
  • Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport.
  • Able to pass a strict airport security vetting procedure which includes a 5-year background check* or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport this position is based in Dublin.
