  • Mapping out all the players operating in those spaces.
  • Getting unique insights in these areas (e.g. growth rate).
  • Tracking what their competitors are doing in them.

Our core technology is built on real-time analytics running on private and public company data. This fuels our Natural Language Processing AI with +60M companies and +1.2B aggregated data points, allowing us to be 3x-5x better than alternatives.

We are proud to count amongst our clients some of the largest corporations across a wide range of industries worldwide across industries.

This is the perfect time to join us!

‍ What you will do

If you are passionate about understanding the data landscape of a hyper-fast company and getting the most value out of it, and you would love to be part of a dynamic and outstanding team committed to making history, this is your dream position!

As our Head of Data, you will:

  • Lead and elevate our Data function and team to the next level, which encompasses three disciplines:
    • Data Engineering
    • Data Science
    • Data Analytics
  • Understand the whole context of the business and how data is generated, processed, and leveraged around it. Find and analyze primary data sources/providers and analyze the grade of overlap between them.
  • Build, test, and measure data-based tools (e.g., Search Engine, recommender systems) and models (e.g., AI / Machine Learning) to exploit our data asset. This is actually a role that entails rolling up your sleeves at a technical level while thinking strategically about the growth of Data at FounderNest.
  • Work hand in hand with our Product Engineering team in designing and building data pipelines, and with Data Intelligence in data exploitation for business and product analytics.

What you will bring

  • You have 4+ years of experience in Data Science, ideally at a product-driven fast-paced tech startup, where data is not an enabler but its core.
  • You embrace the core nature of Data at FounderNest and are willing to become a leading voice for Data across the whole company.
  • You are willing to define and share our vision for Data at FounderNest and guide the company to understand how this vision is connected to our strategy and company goals.
  • You are pragmatic and always prioritize the most lean and agile approach to each problem, whether it involves you deploying a cutting-edge AI model or simply building a prototype in a spreadsheet.
  • You have an experiment-first attitude with the goal of exploring opportunities that seem risky but which have the potential for exponential impact.
  • You have a natural ability to take ownership and lead with an informed sense of urgency without being asked to.
  • You always prioritize the creation of value for our customers and our business, even if that entails having to learn new skills, work in unfamiliar territories, or support other areas.
  • You are wired by an unstoppable excitement and hunger for learning and staying up-to-date about new trends in the Data and AI space and are continuously musing on how we can leverage them to achieve our company goals.
  • You can put yourself in others’ shoes and see situations from perspectives other than your own.
  • You have strong oral and written communication skills in English. Spanish is a plus.
  • Strong SQL knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of Python or a similar language.
  • Experience building, training, evaluating, deploying, and fine-tuning AI models.
  • Experience working with LLMs.

Bonus Points

  • Experience building and scaling large data sets (i.e. working with Big Data).
  • Basic understanding of Data Engineering practices (e.g. lifecycle, undercurrents, etc).
  • Experience dealing with entity merging processes.
  • Basic knowledge about building data pipelines (e.g. ETL, ELT).
  • Experience with semantic search, NLP, vectorial databases, and embeddings.
  • Experience with search engines and how AI can be applied to power them.
  • Experience leading and managing data teams.

About you

  • You want to join an ambitious, high-performing team that dreams about building something meaningful and impactful.
  • You thrive in a culture of open, candid, and constructive feedback taking place in all directions.
  • You leave your ego behind to make sure you accomplish what is best for the company at all times.
  • You are looking for an exciting challenge, and compensation is only one of many factors to assess this opportunity (don’t worry, our compensation is competitive!).
  • Your words and commitments are very important to you - you are reliable, punctual, and don't drop the ball.
  • You embrace balance at work: you know when to go the extra mile, and when to slow down.

️We are committed to you

Personal & professional growth

  • You will be a key part of a bright and international team that will support your growth, within a safe environment.
  • You will have direct exposure to Silicon Valley, which includes some of the best investors and professionals in the world. We proudly count on many of them as our own investors and advisors.
  • Our target audience includes some of the coolest ICPs you can think of (e.g. Heads of Innovation, Heads of Ventures, Heads of Corporate Development).
  • Elevate your skills as we tackle our most impactful challenges: We've achieved more than teams 15x our size in less time — and there's so much more to do and learn.
  • Exponential growth: We humbly say that 6 months at FounderNest may be equivalent to 2 years at any other company in terms of your growth. This is thanks to the pace at which we operate, the state-of-the-art practices and processes that drive our company, and the unparalleled caliber of the people you will get to work with. You'll join at the perfect time to shape how we grow from here.

If you share our values (they are codified in our framework called CALIBER: Customer Excellence, Agility, Learning, Innovation, Balance, Ethics, Respect) and our passion for technology, you will find a home at FounderNest.

Compensation & Perks

  • You will have a full-time contract (i.e. no freelance work).
  • We will offer you a very competitive salary based on your past experience and future potential. We also want you to have stock options since we want you to grow as the company grows and to celebrate FounderNest’s success at all levels.
  • Equipment : All you need to kill it at work. Just request it and we’ll do our best to get it for you.
  • You will have a flexible schedule since we want you to have the freedom to organize your time towards achieving our ambitious goals.
  • We work in a hybrid model , giving you the flexibility of remote work along with opportunities to collaborate in person. Plus, we regularly organize activities, events, and off-sites to strengthen our team connections.
  • Unlimited vacation policy ‍️, as long as you coordinate with your team and we meet our ambitious goals.
  • 90/10 policy: Each team member can devote 10% of their time (usually a Friday every other week) to innovate and grow professionally .
  • Birthday policy : We’ll celebrate your day, showing appreciation with a special gift.

Hiring process

  • After you apply, we will review your submission and decide whether we invite you to a quick intro call with Miguel, our Co-Founder & COO / CPO and Hiring Manager for this role.
  • If we decide to invite you and this initial call goes well, we will then invite you to start a 4-5 step fast interview process that we promise will be exciting — you will get to meet some of the leaders and future peers at FounderNest, and you will get a great flavor of what working at FounderNest looks like .
