vor 4 Tagen Public Service Erlangen
Jobdetails

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (www.fraunhofer.en) currently operates 76 institutes and research facilities in Germany and is the world's leading organization for application-oriented research. Around 32,000 employees work on the annual research volume of 3.4 billion euros.

We are one of the leading IC design facilities in Europe and combine years of design expertise with in-depth system know-how in exciting fields of technology such as multimedia, digital communication, image processing and sensor technology. Our innovative developments contribute significantly to applications in various fields - from the automotive industry to lifestyle and medical technology products that are used in millions of units worldwide. Our research and development activities focus on the design of predominantly analog circuits for ASICs for robust data transmission over copper and fiber optic links in the Mbps to multi-10 Gbps range as well as for complex mixed signal SoCs.

Would you like to take ideas from concept to functional circuit – with a direct influence on future-oriented applications? Then become part of our group »Wireline Communication Circuits«!

What you will do

As a hardware IC developer, you will specify, design and verify hardware components that are implemented in a wide range of semiconductor technologies - from 350 nm CMOS to the latest 22/12 nm FDSOI CMOS, SiGe BiCMOS or BCD. Using the latest simulation and layout tools, you will develop precise solutions, build prototypes and check the results by means of metrological verification.

What you bring to the table

  • Completed scientific university degree in electrical engineering, physics or a comparable subject
  • Sound knowledge of analog circuit design and experience in using simulation and layout tools
  • Basic knowledge of circuit technology or a comparable technical field (e.g. data transmission, measurement technology or signal processing)
  • Interest in technical contexts and innovations in order to familiarize yourself with new topics and to participate in the specification of projects, systems or chips
  • Ideally initial project experience in the field of analog or mixed-signal IC or chiplet design
  • Good written and spoken English

The position is also suitable for young professionals with relevant previous knowledge and experience from internships, student research projects or dissertations. If suitable, there is the possibility of a doctorate.

What you can expect

Fraunhofer is not only the largest organization for application-oriented research in Europe, but we are also considered a top employer. But why?

  • Exciting work: Versatile projects with a high level of application relevance and interdisciplinary system aspects.
  • Design activities ranging from production-ready developments (with yield, QM, design-for-test requirements) to scientific prototypes on new technologies and for future applications (e.g. chiplets and applications in the quantum field).
  • In our dedicated teams, we offer you the freedom to develop your own ideas and creative freedom.
  • We take your needs seriously: we support the best possible work-life balance through flexible working hours and hybrid working.
  • Our employees enjoy our appreciative culture: we are open, helpful and treat each other with trust.
  • Top equipment in the workplace: With our state-of-the-art technologies, we develop solutions for the challenges of the present and future.
  • Your goals and interests are important to us: We regularly support you with professional and personal seminars, coaching and language courses.
  • We enable equal opportunities: Our female scientists are supported, for example, by the »Fraunhofer TALENTA« career program.

We value and promote the diversity of our employees' skills and therefore welcome all applications - regardless of age, gender, nationality, ethnic and social background, religion, ideology, disability, sexual orientation and identity.

The weekly working time is 39 hours. The position can also be filled part-time. The position is initially limited to two years. An extension is possible. Employment, remuneration and social benefits are based on the collective agreement for the public sector (TVöD). In addition, Fraunhofer may grant performance- and success-based variable remuneration components.

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft plays a central role in the innovation process by focusing on key technologies of relevance to the future and on the utilization of the results in business and industry. As a trailblazer and driving force for innovative developments and scientific excellence, it helps to shape our society and our future.
