Academic researcher, PostDoc (all genders welcome)
Entgeltgruppe 14 TV-L/100%
to be filled. Starting date is as soon as possible. The position is limited to 5 years.
The Human-Centered Data Science group led by Lisa Beinborn is looking for an experienced PostDoc .
Our Research
We take a human-centered perspective on natural language processing research. Our research is interdisciplinary at its core and we cooperate closely with colleagues from other faculties (e.g., psychology, humanities).
The position is embedded into an Impulsprofessur grant. Together with two PhD candidates, you will develop polyvocal language models that can capture human variation within and across languages using sample-efficient representation learning and modular adaptation techniques. To better capture human variability, we draw inspiration from research on human language processing and eye tracking signals. We envision cognitively plausible learning mechanisms to build models that prioritize generalization over memorization.
Your Responsiblities
In this position, you have the chance to work towards a habilitation. You are expected to:
- lead the research in the project and guide cooperation (within the group and with external researchers).
- communicate research results in peer-reviewed proceedings and journals and present them at international research conferences.
- share and develop research strategies in the group.
- participate in development of the research group, for example, by contributing to grant proposals.

- has substantial experience with natural language processing research and publishes in the top conferences of the field.
- can independently develop Python projects using machine learning frameworks like pytorch and LLM methodology.
- has an interdisciplinary mindset and can combine insights from multiple research fields.
- has experience in supervising student projects.
- can independently acquire and process new knowledge.
