Job Summary
The Operations Manager will be an exemplar of strong leadership, demonstrating high performance behaviors and the standards to drive a self directed team culture to consistently deliver the Business Key Performance Indicators (KPI) including EHS, Quality, Delivery, Cost (OEE & Productivity), People (engagement, absenteeism). Responsible for ensuring the effective management and development of staff, including timely feedback on performance, and adherence to West / Tech Group policies and procedures. Reports to Manufacturing Director.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Champion a culture of health and safety in accordance with the highest standards of regulatory compliance.
- End to end ownership for the full business value stream.
- Build and maintain an excellent working relationship with the customer in the successful delivery of all client related projects (on time, within budget and in accordance with customer requirements/specifications).
- Support the Customer Account Manager in developing and executing a compelling strategic sales / business plan for the continued growth of the Business Unit.
- Commercial leadership and management of Business Unit customers, including full operational P&L responsibility.
- Lead and drive the highest standards in Operational performance, 6S, people development to b uild on the culture of continuous improvement and growth, to deliver tangibly high quality performance outcomes
- Drive excellent cross functional relationships both within the Business Unit and company wide.
- Demonstrate excellent leadership visibility to drive engagement levels across the organisation.
- Development of the team to support Business Unit performance and growth, including the recruitment, identification, development and retention of talent in the business unit.
- Strong coaching / development of team using development and retention plans as appropriate.
Basic Qualifications
- Third level qualification (academic degree) in relevant engineering discipline.
- 5+ years’ experience in leading and managing a diverse team in a fast paced and highly regulated environment.
- Excellent commercial acumen and customer relationship building skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- An ability to lead in matrix structure multiple projects on-time to budget.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Self-motivated, results oriented and highly focused / organised mind-set.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- 3+ years’ experience of working in medical devices sector or similar is an advantage.
- Ideally have injection moulding and tooling knowledge / expertise.
- Support and contribute to Lean programs and activities towards delivery of targets businesswide
Travel Requirements
- Must be able to travel up to 5% of the time.
Physical
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- This job is classified as having light and sedentary physical requirements as the candidate will be required to lead a team to deliver KPIs’ utilizing various IT tools, and meeting with team members regularly including gemba walks to drive standards improvement.
Mental
- Must be a strong and creative problem solver who can think on their feet under pressure.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks; must be detail orientated and self-motivated.
- Must be able to deal with all levels of employees and work across various departments.
- Must be able to work independently on own projects while working concurrently with all departments.
Delegation Of Duties
- Duties will be delegated to a Value Stream Lead for the BU in times of absence.
