Trinity College seeks to appoint a dynamic individual for the position of Head of Organisation Capability, reporting to the Head of Culture Transformation and Capability, and will be part of the Human Resources Senior Management Team.


The primary purpose of this role is to work closely with the Head of Cultural Transformation and Capability to develop and implement people and cultural strategies for the University.


This role leads a team of technical specialists in the design, development and deployment of programs, who work with colleagues across the University, engaging with key internal stakeholders, senior leaders, other internal enabling functions, and external suppliers.


The highly qualified candidate will have considerable experience in a similar role in a multi-union environment, ideally with expert knowledge of the public sector. The candidate will also possess substantial experience in and knowledge of human resources leadership and culture


Main Responsibilities

As the Head of Organisational Capability, you will be responsible for developing and implementing an Organisational capability strategy, processes, policies and procedures to meet university needs .


The key areas of responsibility will be as follows:

  • Learning & Development – development of a Learning & Development strategy, working in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to identify and set out the workforce capabilities, skills and competencies the University requires and how they can be developed to ensure a sustainable, successful University which meets its objectives.
  • Employee Engagement & Culture – Working with the Head of Cultural Transformation and Capability to develop and rollout an Employee Engagement Strategy; Oversee and continue to develop the employee communication channel with the Communications Team to support change management and optimise communication across the whole University.
  • HR Communications – professionalisation of key HR messages, to drive engagement and enhance the employee experience, and keep our people informed of essential developments and information.
  • Change Management – People are at the centre of many of the changes in the workplace. The Head of Organisational Capability will ensure that organisation development & design, processes, learning and development, employee voice and clear communications are appropriately and effectively addressed as part of the change process.
  • Employee Experience - Develop and implement employee welfare and wellness programmes that provide the necessary supports and practical resources to create a healthy workplace where our employees can thrive.
  • HR Analytics – contribute to the capability in the People & OC function in the use of data and information to inform decision making, ensure resources are focused on key organisational problems, provide accurate and up-to-date information to senior management on key organisational metrics and to monitor key organisational risks


Person Requirements

The role-holder will require the following knowledge, skills and attributes for successful performance in the role.


Qualifications:

  • An honours degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training is essential.
  • A Masters or Post-graduate qualification would be an advantage


Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years demonstrable experience in human resources management, at least 5 of which have been at a senior level – essential
  • Experience of using technology to drive efficiencies – essential
  • Track record of implementing innovative and best in class HR practices (particularly in the operational areas highlighted above) – essential
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a complex organisation, engaging at a senior level – essential


Skills:

  • Proven leadership and management skills – essential


Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of public sector employment regulations – essential
  • Knowledge of the current Irish Higher Education sector – desirable


Post Summary- Head of Organisation Capability


Post status: Permanent


Hours of Post: 35 hours per week


Salary: This appointment will be made on the Senior Administrative 3 Salary Scale ( €92,913 - €119,982 per annum) at a point in line with current Government pay policy.
