Senior Staff Engineer, Packaging

Full Time

Position Summary

Subject Matter Expert across a number of Engineering competencies including Cleaning & Packaging, Lean six sigma, manufacturing and automation. The Senior Staff Engineer will provide technical leadership in the Stryker facility particularly around Cleaning and Packaging. They will possess and apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of a particular field of specialization and deliver complex assignments.

What you will do:

  • Management of significant Engineering projects through OnePPM.
  • Provide Technical leadership to Operations Engineering from an engineering perspective.
  • Technical and operational support to manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure quality of process and product as defined in appropriate OS and Material specifications.
  • Provide support to Process Development / Advanced Operations on technology development and application within the manufacturing process.
  • Engage in the implementation of lean manufacturing and automation within the manufacturing area.
  • Train and mentor Operations and Project Engineers.
  • Interface with Materials Science, Design and Quality Assurance departments to provide customer with a quality product in a timely manner.
  • Validation, Appraisal and support of suppliers, and raw material
  • Support process development and cost reduction activities within the business units.
  • Communicate and participate in system and process troubleshooting with support team members and with external agents.
  • Develop support network of key divisional/corporate leaders academic and supplier partners to enhance understanding of product manufacture and quality
  • Drive high levels of employee engagement through a highly effective support structure implemented for all engineers.
  • Provide Technical Leadership in Labelling Systems and label and IFU development.
  • Develop detailed understanding of best practice of packaging product/process performance within the Medical devices industry.
  • Develops technical solutions to complex technical problems where analysis of situations requires an in depth evaluation of variable factors.

What you will need:

  • Level 8 Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline or equivalent technical experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in medical device, biotech or pharmaceutical packaging design development.
  • Demonstrated experience in resolving design and process related packaging issues on commercial products.
  • Functional knowledge of Design Controls, Industry and Cleaning standards in Packaging Design. (11607, ASTM, ISTA)
  • Knowledge in Labelling Systems and label and IFU development.
  • Experienced in Statistical Analysis, interpretation, and communication of results
  • Has minimum of 6 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with both internal and external agents.
