Do you consider yourself a great customer- or user-facing Software Engineer, Sales Engineer, Customer Engineer, or Solutions Consultant? If so, the Woolpert Digital Innovations Team is interested in you. Woolpert has a successful business building Location-based Solutions for our customers using Google Maps, Cloud and Workspace technologies. We are seeking a Senior Customer Engineer (CE) for our Digital Innovations Team.

Locations:

Remote (US, lower 48); otherwise Dayton, Ohio, or Denver, Colorado.

About Woolpert CEs:

Woolpert Customer Engineers (CEs) play a critical role in introducing or reinforcing the Cloud-first, Cloud-native mindset to our customers. CEs are both technical subject matter experts and creative advocates for customer-centric solutions. You will interface with our existing and prospective clients, from initial intake through solution implementation. You will create proof-of-concepts using a variety of Google, 3rd Party commercial, and open source tools. You will introduce a modern approach to productivity and product delivery to those customers.

Working with Field Sales Representatives (FSRs), Woolpert subject matter experts (SMEs), and Customer Success Managers (CSMs), you will design and build prototypes, typically using Google products and services. You will successfully deliver best-in-class platforms for our clients, and affect change throughout their enterprises.

Success will be measured by your ability to complete the loop from (a) new customer business, through (b) implementation and deployment, and into (c) production delivery of maintainable solutions. Your customers are happy, and happy customers are repeat customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Consult with new and existing customers on business and technical requirements, with a focus on Location-based Solutions in the Cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, hybrid Cloud).
  • Design solution architectures including diagramming
  • Develop professional services statements of work (SOW) including scoping and estimating. Develop Cloud spend resource usage estimates--and budgets--for customers.
  • Build or support rapid proof-of-concepts (POCs) and proof of value experiments.
  • Write, refactor, and optimize new or existing solutions to create fast, easy-to-use, production applications.
  • Deploy software and solutions to cloud infrastructure in a repeatable way.
  • Educate customers through direct product training, and by influencing them towards modern CI/CD engineering habits.
  • Conduct interactive sessions for troubleshooting problems, recommending best practices, and technical Q&A.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5-8+ years of experience in software engineering or similar field.
  • Experience building and deploying production-grade solutions in a virtualized environment such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or similar platform.
  • Proficient in at least one of: Java, C#, C++, Python, Go, modern JavaScript.
  • Comfortable working on projects with a high degree of ambiguity. You can start with a blank canvas and create an elegant cloud-based solution from scratch.
  • Able to speak, write, or teach with strong expertise in multiple focus areas. Demonstrates thought leadership.
  • Able to operate autonomously with little to no oversight.

Additional Skills:

  • The following skills would make you an even stronger member of the team:
  • Mobile web development and design using a modern toolchain.
  • Basic knowledge of Google Maps Platform (GMP).
  • Relevant Google Cloud, Amazon, Azure certifications.
  • IoT or telemetry data ingestion and processing pipelines including analytics or ML.
  • Experience working in any of the following industries: ride sharing, ride hailing, last mile delivery, logistics. IoT and telemetry are particularly helpful.
  • CI/CD deployment to Cloud/containerized environments.
