Contexte
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of five Swiss university hospitals. Through its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and the EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in the areas of medical care, medical research, and training. The service of cardiology at CHUV is dedicated to conduct clinical research with a direct impact for the patients. The service of cardiology of CHUV offers a lively environment with excellent methodological and clinical support and access to a large network of scientists in cardiovascular sciences.
The cardiology preventive group, headed by Prof. Dr. med. Baris Gencer conducts patient-oriented research in the field of cardiovascular prevention.
We are seeking a PhD MD-PhD student to work on the project “Moderate alcohol consumption and heart function in patients with a recent myocardial infarction: a multicenter randomized controlled trial.” This takes place at the cardiology Service of CHUV (Lausanne University Hospital).
This is a project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. The overarching aim of the trial is to clarify the effect of alcohol consumption on cardiac function in this very high-risk group of patients. The post holder will have the opportunity to collaborate with leading experts in cardiology prevention, lifestyle experts, biostatistics, biomarker, and imaging.
Mission
- To enroll patients in the study during hospitalization for a myocardial infarction
- To participate in the conduct and data collection of clinical trial
- To help the coordination of the project with other stakeholders
- To perform statistical analysis to answer clinical questions
- To present results in international conferences and publish them in peer-reviewed journals.
Profil
- A university degree (MSc or equivalent) in medicine or life science
- Strong interest in research and cardiovascular disease
- Fluency in English and French both written and oral
- Some experience with the following would be desirable: clinical research principles, basic statistical analysis, medical writing.
