We are seeking, as a member of the Executive Board, an experienced and visionary leader to start on September 1, 2025, or by arrangement.

The Marketing and Communications Department at Helvetas is responsible for strategic communications, fundraising, and advocacy. It informs the Swiss public about Helvetas' mission, raises awareness of global development issues, and drives political change through campaigns and media outreach. The team, based in Zurich with offices in French- and Italian-speaking regions, consists of over 50 employees organized into four specialized units, all working together to increase Helvetas' visibility and impact.

YOUR MAIN TASKS

You are an experienced leader in marketing and communications

  • Lead the development and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive, integrated marketing and fundraising strategy.
  • Strengthen Helvetas’ national and international brand presence through consistent, impactful, cross-channel communication.

You are a strategic fundraiser

  • Open new fundraising channels and markets, diversifying revenue sources to ensure the organization’s financial stability and sustainable funding.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, foundations, and key industry stakeholders to drive growth and innovation.

You are a strategic visionary

  • Engage in strategic planning with the team to further develop the long-term vision for growth in alignment with the organization’s goals.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation, leveraging proven approaches and new technologies and insights

You are an inspiring leader

  • Act as a strategic partner to the Marketing and Communication leadership team, supporting their development and guiding a high-performing, motivated team.
  • Ensure the implementation of strategic plans through operational teams, delivering high-quality, measurable results.

You are digitally savvy

  • Further development/initiation of digital tools and strategies to improve communication and fundraising measures in an increasingly digital landscape.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

You hold a Master’s degree or equivalent education in communication, marketing, business administration, or a related field. You have at least 10 years of experience in senior management roles in marketing, fundraising, and corporate communication, ideally within the NGO or international development sectors.

As an authentic leader, you have successfully led high-performing teams and have a strong entrepreneurial spirit and strategic mindset, enabling you to develop and execute long-term visions while promoting collaboration, motivation, and innovation.

You bring a proven track record and extensive experience in public fundraising, strategic partnership development, and major donor management and are familiar with the Swiss fundraising market.

An effective communicator, you are skilled in media relations, stakeholder management, and public appearances. Your talent for creating compelling narratives and campaigns allows you to build lasting partnerships. Additionally, you understand the key factors of successful brand management.

You thrive in dynamic environments, bring intercultural competence, and have experience in global development issues. International living and working experience is advantageous, and we require proficiency in either German or French and fluency in English.
