Result of Service Digital Communications Specialist – Key Responsibilities Content Creation: Develop engaging digital content (videos, blogs, infographics, etc.) tailored for various platforms. Work Location Home-Based Expected duration 01 February to 30 April 2025 Duties and Responsibilities About ITC: The International Trade Centre (ITC) is a joint agency of the United Nations and World Trade Organization based in Geneva. ITC’s mission is to enable small business export success in developing and transition- economy countries, by providing, with partners, sustainable and inclusive development solutions to the private sector, trade support institutions (TSIs) and policymakers. About the Project: The Women Exporters in the Digital Economy (WEIDE) Fund, launched by the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the International Trade Centre (ITC) in February 2024, aims to empower women entrepreneurs by helping them grow their businesses through international trade and digitalization. The USD 50 million WEIDE Fund will unlock opportunities in international trade and digital trade for women entrepreneurs by improving their access to: 1. grants and support from financial institutions to reduce the finance gap 2. technical assistance and training related to digital skills and improving export competitiveness 3. export markets, with the aim of connecting more women to digital market platforms 4. networks and support services, with the objective of creating more inclusive and effective business ecosystems including leveraging partnerships with the private and public sectors. The Fund will work with selected Business Support Organizations (BSOs) to implement two interventions: 1) Strengthening the export competitiveness of women-led MSMEs and connecting them to global/regional markets. 2) Mobilising partners to scale up WEIDE projects on women in trade, in particular with financial institutions. The Fund will be implemented through country projects in cooperation with BSOs selected through competitive call for proposals. The women-led MSMEs that will benefit from the Fund will be selected through competitive calls for applications. At the country level, the Fund will implement a two-track system tailored to two target groups of MSMEs: 1) formal, exporting and export-ready women-led MSMEs; 2) formal women-led, micro and small enterprises with export potential. Each track consists of a grant component and a complementary technical assistance component. The Fund is governed by a Board, a Technical Committee and a Secretariat. The Secretariat, located at ITC, is responsible for the overall coordination and day-to-day management of the Fund, and the implementation of the Fund’s annual work plan. The WEIDE Fund Secretariat and ITC Communication Unit will jointly oversee a communication consultant to manage and implement the communication work of the Fund. Description of Duties/Responsibilities The incumbent will work for the WEIDE Fund Secretariat based at ITC Headquarters under the direct supervision of the Head of the WEIDE Fund Secretariat and ITC’s Head of Communications. The Consultant is expected to perform the following duties: Key Responsibilities: 1. Content Creation: o Create engaging digital-first content in different formats, such as videos, blogs, social media posts, podcasts, infographics, or similar products. • Create content tailored to the needs of the relevant social media channel with the highest probability of reaching the project’s priorities. o Work under the guidance of the communications team leads at ITC and WTO to plan content products that align with the vision of the brand. o Make sure all content matches our brand’s tone and values. • Be aware of production guidelines that allow consent from contributors on social media or digital products. • Prepare draft texts for press releases to be finalised by ITC and WTO press offices • Might create content (text, photo, videos) for WEIDE website page and liaise with ITC and WTO web teams for updating 2. Graphic Design: o Create attractive graphics and visuals that allow the content to fit on different platforms. o Use graphic design tools to make high-quality visuals following our brand guidelines, such as Canva, Adobe software or equivalent. 3. Social Media Management: o Implement the promotion of content on social media channels with the relevant teams at ITC and WTO, and possibly the individual WEIDE channels if they were created. • Be able to analyze metrics on performance, and implementing content adjustments based on data insights. o Develop content that encourages engagement and reach with the desired audience. 4. Support where needed in advocacy events, including preparation of agendas, coordination with speakers, preparation of session briefs and scripts. Copyright Clause: The consultant has to ensure that she has obtained the necessary permissions with regard to intellectual property rights required to perform her services under this consultancy contract and for the subsequent dissemination by ITC in any form. Documentary proof is to be submitted to ITC. Should any license fee be due for the use of copyrighted materials of third parties, the consultant shall request the prior written permission from ITC. Qualifications/special skills • Undergraduate degree (BA/BSC or other); • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Communications or a related field; • Extensive relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the university degree; • At least three years of professional experience in graphic design • Attention to detail; • Ability to work reliably and independently with minimum supervision; • Full proficiency in Canva and Adobe Suite applications • Previous exposure to designing materials on gender-related issues desirable Languages • Fluency in English, both spoken and written • Fluency in another UN language is an asset Additional Information Not available.
