Arup’s Ground Engineering team in Ireland includes geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists, hydrogeologists, and GIS specialists, supported by our global expertise across all disciplines. We provide innovative ground engineering solutions for all types of projects and clients, both within Ireland and internationally, adding value through technical excellence, creative thinking, and understanding of our client’s long-term objectives.
We currently have a requirement for a graduate geotechnical engineer with a passion for geotechnics to join our Ground Engineering Team in Dublin. We are seeking a candidate that can deliver innovative solutions which provide value to our clients, while meeting the highest technical standards. The candidate should also possess excellent communication skills and the ability to understand client requirements. This is a permanent role and offers the successful candidate long-term opportunities for career development.
Your Responsibilities
- Contributing to wide variety of projects, both in Ireland and overseas, working in both the field and office-based work under the supervision of senior staff.
- Planning, supervising and reporting on ground investigations.
- Design of foundations, retaining structures, slope stability and earthworks for a range of building and infrastructure projects.
- Preparation of specifications and reports.
- Communicating design solutions and advice to a range of technical and non-technical audiences.
- Understanding trends and best practices in the geotechnical industry and contributing to geotechnical research.
- Participating in local Professional Associations and start to work towards Chartership.
- Communicating effectively in written and verbal presentation formats.
- Possible short-term assignments within Ireland and overseas.
We Seek The Following Qualifications, Attributes, And Skills
- As a minimum, candidates will have an honour bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical or Structural Engineering. A post-graduate qualification in Geotechnical Engineering, Soil Mechanics, or equivalent is an advantage.
- Thorough knowledge of geotechnical fundamentals.
- Ability to work independently as well as well as a proven team player and have a proactive approach to work.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Good communication skills essential for team-based working.
- Excellent planning and organisation skills.
- Must be highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges.
- Interest and ability in 3D modelling, scripting, numerical analysis or GIS would be an advantage.
- Flexibility to travel, and full drivers licence would be an advantage
