MAIN PURPOSE

The Product Area Manager is responsible for the success of the products in his/her Product Area and directly works with the Product Domain Director or Head of Product Areas to manage the product teams to meet Group Technology quality and value delivery performance objectives. She/He is responsible for the overall management of the product area teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a partner of Business stakeholders to best respond to their requirements and deliver product features taking into account Group Technology capabilities:
  • Ensure a shared understanding of the Product Area within and outside Group Technology
  • Make sure that all features are delivered and maintained according to quality, performance, security & compliance policies
  • Enable Group Technology delivery roadmap in response to the business requirements:
  • Orchestrate multiple internal and external functional stakeholders to make sure that technology enablers and features are included in the Product Area Roadmap, according to Product Area capacity and capability demands
  • Collaborate with the Solution Architect and Tech Team Lead(s) to identify technology enablers including version upgrades, decommissioning, technical debt reduction, and innovations where applicable, in order to prioritize those in the Product Area Roadmap, along with other business requirements
  • Participate in the governance processes that enable prioritization of initiatives, features, and user stories
  • Manage Group Technology resources of the Product Area:
  • Define and monitor budget allocation of the Product Area, consolidated from the budget of the products or initiatives, and recommend readjustments in consultation with the Group Technology PMO and Head of Product Areas
  • Manage external providers, in line with Group Technology sourcing strategy and Procurement policies
  • Manage the Product Area teams; defines HR objectives; develop skills in line with Business and Technology requirements
  • Conduct individual performance reviews according to HR guidelines for internal employees; perform compensation reviews
  • Create and maintain an inclusive culture in the Product Area
  • Support initiatives impacting the Product Area
  • Drive delivery excellence and continuous improvement:
  • Define and drive delivery KPIs
  • Produce timely, detailed summaries and high-level reports, leveraging tools in place such as Atlassian suite or Datadog
  • Promote delivery methodologies in line with overall Group Technology objectives & specific product requirements
  • Ensure the continuous improvement of the Product Area
  • Monitor and track team performance
  • Manage delivery risks, impediments and dependencies
  • Oversee support activities for the Product Area including SLA and KPI definitions in line with Group Technology requirements and guidelines
  • Act as the primary escalation person for the Product area for topics regarding operational excellence
  • Enforce the Group Technology operating model (based on scaled agile practices)
  • Organize, prepare and facilitate the Quarterly Alignment Days (QADs)
  • Structure the existing/new teams to minimize time to market while maximizing customer centricity

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field
  • 7-10 years of management experience in a multinational environment
  • Product Management experience is an asset
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Strong understanding of security and quality standards for digital applications
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, with strong knowledge of Agile principles (certifications is an asset)
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, people management skills and team empowerment
  • Proven track record of successful change management implementation and fostering learning culture
  • Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives
  • Ability to adapt to change and work with a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly or executive language
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations
  • Highly self-motivated and focused
  • Autonomous, being able to learn quickly in a complex environment
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory
  • Consulting experience & mindset is an asset

Specific Requirements For The Product Area

  • Solid knowledge of e-Commerce ecosystem and omnichannel capabilities
  • Understanding of key usability principles for designing and building mobile and desktop Web applications for B2C use cases
  • Proven track record of working on API-based digital applications integrated with core systems such as SAP ERP, Product Information System (PIM) and online payment gateways such as Adyen
  • Experience in Customer Services through online channels
  • Familiarity with Cloud technologies, tools and services is an asset
  • Experience in managing distributed teams
  • Past exposure to China’s specific digital ecosystem is a plus
  • High level of commitment and availability, in line with the nature of the e-Commerce channels (opened 365/24/7)
