Climeworks removes CO₂ from the air to fight global warming and protect future generations to come.

We develop, build and operate direct air capture (DAC) machines which capture CO₂ directly from the air. The captured carbon dioxide is removed from the air by safely storing it underground, permanently.

Founded in 2009 by engineers, Christoph Gebald and Jan Wurzbacher, Climeworks was built with a mission to inspire 1 billion people to remove CO₂ from the air, and is now spearheading the DAC industry globally. It has the world’s largest DAC facility and storage installation in operation and a team of over 300 Climeworkers determined to contribute to a net-zero future.

Job description

• Your mission at Climeworks is to advise on patenting and related matters as well as fostering sustainable innovation mining at Climeworks.
• You enable the management of IP topics, guiding inventors and ensuring readiness for future projects.
• You continuously monitor our product innovations and the evolving technology landscape.
• You are the essential bridge between inventors and innovation protection experts, ensuring efficient communication and collaboration.
• You dive deep into Climeworks’ patent portfolio and relevant scientific literature, providing technical insights.
• You own core technology domains with a view to patent filing and maintenance.
• You refine and streamline our innovation mining and protection approaches, ensuring Climeworks remains an industry leader.

Your story

Requirements

• You possess a scientific or engineering background.
• You bring 5+ years of experience in patent management.
• You have a broad practical understanding of diverse technical topics and an open technical mind.
• You are trustworthy, reliable, and excel in driving projects to completion independently.
• You adapt swiftly to new challenges and can shift focus as required.
• You are fluent in English.

Nice-to-have:

• You may be a qualified patent attorney (CH, EU, and/or US).
• You have a law degree, perhaps complemented by patent litigation experience.
• You are versed in US patent law and might have had in-house roles in multinational companies.
• You have robust expertise in engineering, chemistry, or both.
• You have shown leadership tendencies or possess a leadership mindset.
• You can converse in German.
