Result of Service The Illustrator/Graphic Artist will produce 1) a six-page illustrated graphic novel, and 2) four illustrations. Work Location Remotely Expected duration 9 months Duties and Responsibilities The Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar ("Mechanism") was established by the Human Rights Council in its resolution 39/2 dated 27 September 2018 to: (1) collect, consolidate, preserve and analyse evidence of the most serious international crimes and violations of international law committed in Myanmar since 2011; and (2) prepare files in order to facilitate and expedite fair and independent criminal proceedings in national, regional or international courts or tribunals. The illustrator/graphic artist is responsible for producing an illustrated graphic novel and illustrations for outreach purposes, including for a newsletter and animated videos. The illustrator/graphic artist will work closely with the Mechanism's Public Information Officer to create illustrations that convey key messages and that are appropriate and relevant for the target audience. The position will be located in the Front Office of the Mechanism and the illustrator/graphic artist will report to the Public Information Officer. Qualifications/special skills A First Level University Degree or equivalent in illustration, fine art, graphic design or related field is required. A minimum of 3 (three) years of experience producing illustrations and graphic novels to visualize organizational messages is required. Experience using digital illustration software is desirable. Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in oral and written English and Burmese is required.
