We're seeking a visionary Art Director to lead our design team and drive the creative vision behind our projects.

Job Overview

The Art Director will oversee the design department, manage resources, and ensure design concepts align with client expectations and company standards. As the primary creative leader, you will guide projects from pitch to completion, managing both internal and external relationships. This role demands excellent communication skills with a focus on English negotiation, empathy, and valuable discussions with clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Design Department: Oversee all creative aspects of exhibition projects, ensuring design integrity and adherence to project timelines.
• Team Management: Manage, mentor, and motivate a small multidisciplinary design team (graphic designers, interior designers, 3D designers, etc.), allocate resources efficiently, and encourage professional growth.
• Project & Pitch Management: Take ownership of managing and calculating your own design projects and pitches. Ensure smooth handling of project planning, budgeting, and execution.
• Client & Stakeholder Communication: Act as the key point of contact for clients and stakeholders, presenting concepts, addressing feedback, and ensuring expectations are met.
• English negotiation skills are essential to communicate clearly and professionally with international clients.
• Empathy & Robustness: Demonstrate empathy during creative discussions, understanding client needs and concerns, while being robust enough to defend creative integrity and design decisions.
• Concept Development: Guide the ideation, planning, and execution of creative concepts for exhibitions, ensuring they meet the strategic goals and creative standards of the company and clients. Use and improvement of established standards and procedures.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the internal design and engineering teams, project managers, and external partners to ensure smooth workflow and project success from concept to completion.
• Innovation & Trends: Stay current on design trends and innovations, incorporating new ideas and technologies into the department’s work.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience (10+ years) managing and presenting design projects and teams, preferably in the interactive exhibition industry.
• Ideally with a background working on both the client side (e.g., museum or science center) and the service provider side (e.g., freelance, agency, design & build company) with a deep understanding of both perspectives.
• Excellent English client negotiation skills and experience engaging in client-facing discussions and presentations.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
• Proficient in design software (e.g., Cinema 4D, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite, CAD programs).
• Strong understanding of exhibition design, including interactive and multimedia elements, and how to integrate them into cohesive experiences.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on driving continuous improvement and innovation in design processes and outcomes.
