The Opportunity

Arup Ireland are seeking students who are passionate about creating a greener, more sustainable future to join our team in Dublin over the period of a few months. We look for students who are ready to jump into the professional world; diverse individuals with inquisitive minds and a desire to challenge as the sustainability landscape evolves rapidly.

You will work alongside skilled professionals and contribute to the success of real projects. You will also enjoy learning sessions with technical experts within your team, working on local projects and all kinds of social events.

Yo Ur Responsibilities

During your work placement, you would be working closely with experienced Sustainability Professionals and Building Services Engineers to:


  • Undertake Thermal and Building Regulation Compliance modelling using IESVE or other similar software.
  • Prepare and input to decarbonisation strategies for buildings with respect to both operational efficiency and adoption of renewable energy technologies.
  • Carry out analysis of new technologies and how they can be incorporated into our projects to ensure a sustainable and robust design.
  • Problem solve, analyse data, and compile findings in technical reports.
  • Showcase designs and findings to clients through presentations, and collaboration.


We Seek The Following Qualifications, Attributes And Skills


  • Student undertaking a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy engineering or Building Services Engineering (NFQ Level 8/9 or equivalent)
  • Basic understanding of building physics and technologies.
  • Combines good organisational and communication skills to demonstrate logical thinking and concise reporting.

Our team are involved in a wide range of sectors including education, commercial and healthcare. Some of our current educational projects include the University College Dublin, Teaching and Learning Building, Trinity College Dublin E3 Learning Foundry and various diverse projects in Cork city and County, such as the refurbishment of the Crawford Art Gallery. We have successfully delivered on exciting projects in UCC (Boole Library, Glucksman Art Gallery and Aula Maxima) and MTU (School of Catering, School of Interior Design and Architectural Technology, Zero2020 Retrofit of Block B, Nimbus micro-grid test bed)

Cork

Our team are involved in a wide range of sectors including science, education, commercial, healthcare and sports. Science projects include UCD Science Block refurb and several large Data Centres. Educational projects include the UCD Centre for Learning Building, TCD E3 Learning Foundry and TCD Old Library Renovation. We are working on the National Children’s Hospital, the National Maternity Hospital, and a new Critical Care Wing for the Rotunda Hospital. A new Velodrome is one of several projects we are working on in the Sport Ireland Campus. We are also working with a number of key clients with their energy decarbonisation strategies to meet Carbon Action Plan requirements.
