About the role
As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in upholding and improving product quality, ensuring that our components and materials meet the highest standards. Your responsibilities include conducting supplier and product qualifications, overseeing product and process quality, and resolving quality discrepancies to minimize costs. As our business is expanding globally you will be working closely with suppliers across different continents.
Additionally, you will establish the annual Supplier Control Plan, provide guidance to our Supplier Quality Inspectors, and lead the Root Cause Analysis for non-conformities.
Your work will be instrumental in maintaining our commitment to delivering top-quality solutions in the maritime industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting supplier and product qualifications for structural and mechanical components of eSAIL.
- Ensuring that supplier product and process quality always meets Bound4blue's requirements.
- Investigate, analyse, and rectify product quality discrepancies and supplier quality to minimize costs.
- Formulate the annual Supplier Control Plan (plan and execute audits and follow-ups).
- Guide our Supplier Quality Inspectors in their daily work as needed.
- Participate in design reviews to ensure and enhance components.
- Analyse, track, and execute Root Cause Analysis for identified Non-Conformities (NOCs).
- Perform quality inspections at supplier facilities.
- Implement preventive quality methods aimed at minimizing risks and improving quality specifications/requirements for components.
- Qualify and approve suppliers in cooperation with the Procurement team (Ready for business).
Required competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering/Welding or equivalent professional experience, combined with a minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience in Wind Tower and/or Metal Fabrication and their large-scale mechanical components is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of Materials, Welding Processes, and Coatings.
- Experience in conducting audits at supplier industrial plants.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to convey information directly, accurately, and effectively. Results-oriented: achieving quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
- Proactive, with the ability to work in a team and lead projects autonomously.
- Availability for travel is required approximately 70 to 100 days per year.
- Fluent in Spanish & English
