Position details
- Main location: Siena
- Travel: 20%
- Employment type: Permanent
- Hours of work: 40 hours/week
- Reporting to: Technical Officer
- Salary range: Depending on the actual experience achieved.
Main responsibilities
- Take full ownership of managing complex issues within IT/OT infrastructures independently.
- Diagnose and resolve Level 3 incidents and advanced technical challenges effectively.
- Design, implement, and ensure robust data protection measures tailored to specific requirements.
- Develop and enforce business continuity strategies to safeguard operational resilience.
- Create comprehensive Business Continuity Plans (BCP) to address organisational needs.
- Draft targeted Disaster Recovery Plans (DRP) for individual systems to ensure rapid recovery.
- Design and implement high-availability solutions to maximise system uptime and reliability.
- Maintain up-to-date and consistent project documentation to support seamless operations.
- Contribute actively to the IT/OT infrastructure technical change management process.
- Operate with a critical and proactive mindset, adhering to client-specific Quality guidelines and manuals (both IT/OT-specific and general).
- Monitor and manage shared platforms and IT/OT systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Evaluate and mitigate risks related to obsolescence and vulnerabilities in systems and infrastructure.
- Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and technical analyses to support informed decision-making.
- Oversee and provide guidance for installations and technical activities to ensure alignment with best practices.
- Deliver targeted training sessions to raise staff awareness of IT-related topics and upskill IT team members with technical knowledge.
- Support and guide teams in keeping standard operating procedures and best practices/guidelines up to date and relevant.
Essential requirements
- Proven experience in managing and supporting complex infrastructure environments.
- Advanced expertise in widely used operating systems.
- Strong knowledge of databases and complex data structures, including big data.
- Comprehensive understanding of network technologies and protocols, such as TCP/IP, routing, filtering, and DNS.
- Specialised skills in cybersecurity, including data encryption, zero trust frameworks, and network segmentation.
- Fundamental scripting abilities and a broad understanding of programming languages.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills paired with a proactive approach to self-directed learning.
- Ability to excel both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Fluent command of written and spoken English.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-focused approach.
- Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to produce precise documentation.
- Solid professional knowledge of project management methodologies and practices.

- CCIE/CCNA certifications.
- Windows Server certifications or equivalent.
- ITIL or DevOps certifications in IT service management.
- Significant and proven experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences companies.
