Job Purpose
Oversee and develop budgets, manage and strategize material procurement, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance and efficiency within the organization's Material and Maintenance Planning Departments, following financial and regulatory guidelines, to enhance operational efficiency, compliance, and cost-effectiveness in maintenance supply chain management
Main Accountabilities
- Ensure the development and implementation of best practice policies and procedures that maximize efficiency, quality, and staff performance within the Material and Maintenance Planning Departments.
- Manage and optimize the budget effectively, ensuring cost efficiency and alignment with the organization's financial targets and operational requirements.
- Establish and nurture strong, mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers, ensuring contractual terms are met and supply chain reliability is maintained.
- Secure favorable contract terms and pricing through effective negotiation and collaboration, ensuring legal compliance and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee and ensure strict adherence to all contract terms, mitigating risks and ensuring seamless supply chain operations.
- Develop a comprehensive materials budget that reflects the organization's operational needs and financial constraints, and monitor expenditures to remain within budget.
- Devise and execute a strategic approach to material management that optimizes inventory, reduces costs, and secures advantageous terms in new contracts.
- Establish high standards and clear procedures that ensure operational excellence and compliance, while effectively managing audits and inspections to uphold regulatory standards.
- Elevate staff competencies, promote continuous professional development, and ensure the team possesses the latest skills and knowledge in supply chain and materials management, thereby improving departmental performance and adaptability to industry changes.
- Drive operational efficiency and accuracy by integrating cutting-edge technologies, such as AI for predictive maintenance and blockchain for supply chain transparency, reducing costs, improving reliability, and enhancing decision-making capabilities.
- Ensure the organization's supply chain practices align with environmental standards and ethical guidelines, reducing the carbon footprint and promoting corporate social responsibility, thereby enhancing the company's reputation and commitment to sustainable development.
- Ensure a smooth and effective transition to optimised organisational structures and operational processes, enhancing the resilience and efficiency of the supply chain and maintenance operations, while fostering a culture of innovation and adaptability among staff.

Main Responsibilities - Tasks
- Be responsible for the staff and policies of the Material Department and Maintenance Planning Department.
- Be responsible for overall budget oversight and development for material costs and planning workload.
- Maintain relationships and primary responsibility for material suppliers and contracts.

- Carry on the control and management of compliance with material and supply chain contracts.
- Create and monitor Materials Budget.
- Develop and implement Material Strategy and negotiate new contracts.
- Carry on the development of standards and procedures for the Materials Department and deal with Compliance Monitoring audits and inspections.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive training and development program for the Material Department and Maintenance Planning Department staff.
- Lead the adoption of innovative technologies and practices within the supply chain and materials management processes.
- Establish and oversee initiatives that promote sustainability and ethical sourcing within the supply chain.
- Lead organizational transformation and change management within the Supply Chain and Maintenance departments, including team restructuring and the implementation of new processes and technologies.
- Organize and manage the team, promoting their development, teamwork, and communication, between their collaborators and the rest of the Company.
- Perform any other responsibility or function that is assigned inherent to the job.
Main Relationships
- Material Department: Direct oversight and development of policies and staff within this department, focusing on procurement, storage, and distribution of materials.
- Maintenance Planning Department: Collaboration on work package development and workload forecasting to ensure maintenance activities are well-planned and resourced.
- Legal Team: Works closely with the legal department to negotiate, finalize, and ensure compliance with contracts.
- Suppliers and Contractors: Maintains relationships and manages contracts, ensuring the supply chain's reliability and compliance with contractual terms.
- Finance Department: Oversight of budgets, including development and monitoring of the materials budget, necessitating close interaction with finance to align financial planning with operational needs.
- Human Resources (HR) and Labour Relations: Engages with HR and labor relations on staffing and contractor management issues, particularly in sensitive areas such as contractor employment and compliance with labor laws.
- Engineering and Maintenance Teams: Collaborates with engineering and maintenance to ensure materials and supply chain activities support maintenance operations and aircraft safety.
- Compliance and Audit Teams: Works with internal compliance and audit teams to develop standards, and procedures, and to manage audits and inspections, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- External Regulatory Bodies: Interaction with external regulatory bodies may be required to ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, particularly in areas related to airworthiness and supply chain management.
- Strategic Partners and Industry Stakeholders: Engages with strategic partners and other stakeholders in the aviation industry to keep abreast of trends, innovations, and best practices in maintenance supply chain management.
Education
-
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
Advanced degrees such as a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) or relevant postgraduate qualifications in supply chain management, logistics, or aviation management.
Experience
- 10-15 years of relevant experience in supply chain management, logistics, or maintenance planning within the aviation, aerospace, or a closely related sector. Of these, at least 5-7 years should be in a leadership or management role, overseeing teams, managing budgets, and leading strategic initiatives.
- Strategic Leadership: Experience in leading organizational transformation and managing change within supply chain and maintenance operations.
- Operational Excellence: A track record of optimizing supply chain processes, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring material availability for maintenance activities.
- Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to manage and cultivate relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., finance, HR, engineering teams) and external partners (suppliers, regulatory bodies).
- Risk Management: Experience in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks within the supply chain and maintenance planning areas.
