Electrical Design Engineer

Contract Duration/Type: Permanent

Location: Kilkenny

Hybrid/Onsite: Office Based (Probation Period and potential to move to Hybrid)

Working Pattern (Time/Hours): 40 Hours Per Week



Overview of the role:



This role is for an Electrical Design Engineer that will work as part of a multi discipline team to produce detailed electrical designs for Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants in both municipal and industrial settings.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for ensuring that all work is efficiently and effectively managed and executed within defined constraints, such as time and budget, and with due diligence.



The role will require strong technical skills and communication and interaction with managers, engineers, internal and external team members, suppliers and clients.



Duties of the Role include;

  • Development of new Electrical designs and concepts
  • Evaluation of the client specifications
  • Preparation of Electrical Technical Designs & Submissions
  • Building Services Design including Fire Alarm, Emergency Lighting, Lighting, Intruder Alarm, etc.
  • Design of electrical distribution systems including Single Line, Max Demand and Panel Design
  • Instrumentation Design including selection, termination details, cabling requirements, etc.
  • Development of system architecture (PLCs, Networks Switches, I/O Island, etc.)
  • Prepare Cable Calculation & Schedules
  • Evaluation and selection of sub-contractors and suppliers
  • Specify equipment for procurement in conjunction with the purchasing department
  • Liaise with other departments i.e. design, contracts, control & automation etc. as required
  • Liaise with the client as required
  • Understanding and ability to update panel schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Preparation of Control Philosophies
  • Manage project documentation according to the requirements of the Project Quality Plan
  • Working to IS, EN, BS & IEC standards
  • Travel to site occasionally as required to support design activities



Required skills for this role;

  • Knowledge of Water and Wastewater treatment industry preferable

  • Preferred knowledge & experience:
  • Accredited NFQ Level 7 Bachelor Degree in a relevant discipline.
  • 5+ years in Similar Role
