YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Regional Sustainability Engineer is responsible for the energy transition transformation within Brenntag. You have a Regional role to support, develop and implement the required changes to a contribute to drive Brenntag’s aim for carbon net zero in 2045. As Regional Sustainability Engineer you are responsible for the development and implementation of strategic initiatives in all related subcategories. You are responsible for defining the sustainability improvements and implementing them to existing (and future) sites in the Brenntag network. This is a cross-functional role that interacts with various other functions across the business and is supported by the global sustainability group. You will build the plan to reduce the carbon footprint in the Region and help improving our “menucard” of net zero improvements and embed a culture of change management across the company reflecting the ambition to place carbon neutrality at the forefront of its strategic business plan. As Regional Sustainability Engineer you will take a key role in supporting Brenntag to respond to targets and shape the chemical distribution industry.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:


  • Brenntag’s technical face towards the business for implementation of sustainability challenges
  • Develop and execute strategies and the roadmap to implement the Net Zero Carbon ambitions of Brenntag.
  • Regional responsible for development of the technical framework to reduce the carbon footprint.
  • Review the current site network in EMEA and build plans for the technical implementation of improvement projects while considering the current asset state and future requirements for energy consumptions.
  • Review current fleet in EMEA and build plans to decarbonize by use of alternative fuel /powertrain types
  • Provide regular sustainable engineering design advice the EMEA region and local entities.
  • Update and expand the sustainability “menucard”of Capex and Opex improvement initiatives.
  • Provide analysis on projects, execute work plans and task definition, generation of data collection.
  • Identification of new technologies and improvement options for the Brenntag operations
  • Help to implement and embed new processes and procedures across the organization including training of staff.
  • Provide progress reports for presentation at Local, Regional and Corporate Management meetings.
  • Produce data analysis, senior management presentations and written reports to a high standard.
  • Follow best practices and alleviate workloads from team members and colleagues.
  • Deliver training materials, client engagement and communications.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Master degree in the field of science, engineering, building sustainability or energy-related studies.
    Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in sustainability consultancy, strategy consultancy, engineering or related.
    Additional Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Proven ability in analysis of complex problems and technical solutions
  • Thorough understanding of preparing action plans or net-zero strategies at site, warehouse and office buildings.
  • Understanding of the construction and maintenance sector and aware of recent net-zero policies and regulations.
  • Experience in the assessment of distributed generation assets (solar PV, battery energy storage, etc.).
  • Project management skills, understanding of budgets, timelines, and scope of work.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical and research skills.
  • Team player with networking skills.
  • Excellent written, graphical, and verbal communication skills.
  • Sharing knowledge and building capabilities. Strong & inspirational People Leadership skills
