About the role The Technical Packaging Expert will be responsible for providing packaging technology expertise, knowledge, advice and leadership to support the development and implementation of VE/Sustainability initiatives Key Responsibilities Key responsibilities are managing all packaging aspects including:
- Ongoing support to global project teams and specifically VE & Sustainability team members across multiple VE initiatives
- SME support globally - e.g., trouble shooting on technical packaging related issues at packaging Suppliers
- Innovation and Sustainability - specifically work on understanding how we can utilise mechanical or chemical recycling for Haleon pack formats – bottles, blisters, and sachet/strips etc.
- Supporting work to leverage scientific packaging data across network and avoid unnecessary repeat of stability studies or Extractible Leachable.
- Continuation of relationships with key global suppliers keeping up to date with any new flexible packaging initiatives linked to sustainability and recycle readiness
- Close collaboration with Procurement, Regulatory, R&D & BU’s/site teams
Qualifications and skills
- Degree in relevant technical subject or comparable technical experience: Packaging Technology, Material Science, Pharmaceutical Technology, Engineering.
- Experience of working in Technical Packaging role in Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals, Personal care or food-based industries, ideally a multinational FMCG company.
- Wide mix of materials and manufacturing and processing technology understanding.
- Thorough understanding of supply chain Packaging requirements from concept through to manufacture, distribution, store, consumer and end of life.
- Experience working on multiple large projects simultaneously.
- Lean manufacturing, six sigma and DOE techniques / methodology
- Knowledge of Regional Packaging legal and regulatory landscape.
- Experience working with global IT specification systems and authoring high quality specifications, BOM’s, line trial protocols/reports
- Good understanding of packaging sustainability
- Stakeholder management across a matrix organization
- Experience of manufacturing excellence techniques, processes, quality management systems, and problem-solving methodologies would be extremely helpful.
- Communication in spoken and written English is a requirement. Other regional languages can be critical, depending on the region.
- Must be eligible to work in specific Region.
- Domestic and international travel is a requirement for this role.
